James Franco and especially Jason Statham haven't had a big castout lead in a film in a while and Homefront had some potential. It was actually a decent idea for a script where an ex-DEA agent retires in a small town to save his young daughter and finds himself in more trouble than he asked for. Unfortunately it's a lackluster barebones movie with the only thing saving it from redemption is the cast.
Film.com called Homefront while not nessescarily a horrible film, a one to skip unless you're willing to see. Plenty other critics stated similar opinions to this with ReelViews saying "noone will remember Homefront in a few months". And it's fine that Homefront's crap. The last two amazing movies of this year were Gravity and Rush and those were actually memorable and enticing. And Homefront isn't.
Overall only see this movie if you want to.
Homefront is rated R.
