Back in 2012 we thought Seth Mcfarlane's movie career was going to flush down the drain pretty quickly as a lot of people hate Family Guy and Ted, his movie about a profanity filled teddy bear come to life was deemed before release as just that. And it came out and we laughed all of our asses off. All of us. So what has Mcfarlane been up to now?
Sadly it's not making good movies thats for sure. A Million Ways To Die In The West has a 33% on Rotten Tomatoes and a 44 on Metacritic. It's been criticized for being way too long,having all the good jokes in the trailer, and the great lengthy cast not really meaning anything at the end. Oh well Mcfarlane. Better luck next time. Overall only see this movie if you really want to.

Remember 21 Jump Street? And the hype and worry about that mostly due to the fact that Channing Tatum (a guy mostly known for his photo shoots and meh acting) was going to be playing one of the main parts. Turns out the movie was laugh out loud,turned around Channing Tatum's career, and even got a sequel that will release this year. And now a new comedy is out with Zac Efron and Seth Rogen and it looks very similar to 21 Jump Street and you know what that means? It's probably gonna be one hell of a hilarious movie.
Neighbors has a 68 on Metacritic and a 74% on RottenTomatoes. It's not The World's End class of humour but it's definitely gonna be great with friends, and has been called a revival of the studio comedy by The Wrap,written better then it needed to be by Hitflix,and probably the best Summer comedy so far by Village Voice.

The coolest and probably most ludicrous way to explain Non-Stop and make someone excited for it would be Taken mixed with Devil mixed with Snakes On A Plane. OK. Maybe that didn't work. And Non-Stop didn't work all the way as it has a 58% on RottenTomatoes and a 56 on Metacritic. Let's see why.
According to New York Daily News,The Guardian,and The Globe And Mail Non-Stop barely makes sense most of the time with it's inane script,weak dialogue, and it not being a train wreck only because of the great badass performance from Liam Nesson. Looks like Non-Stop still is a non-stop action thrill ride but had to make some sacrifices that affect the quality in order to get there.

Hey! So this is kind of a last minute thing here. I realized how many Valentines Days movies come out this week so I've decided to cover them all in a quick post and say which ones are worth your time. (if any)
Date & Switch:
The first one is Date & Switch a movie about virgins trying to "score" before prom and then one of them says he's gay. Obviously this isn't your typical Valentines Day movie and this one's only a limited release so let's check if it's actually a movie you should drive a little while to see. Turns out nope.This movie has gotten some positive reviews but mostly it's gotten not so shining ones because of it's uneven pacing,dated script and subject material, and overall somewhat pointless. There is some good aspects though but it's not that spread out in the film and mostly is lacking. Overall no.
Winters Tale:
Winter's Tale is the somewhat Cinderella generic story about some crappy love that spans a century or something. It's a last ditch effort by Warner Bros to get some money this Valentines Day and after the explosion of awesomeness that was The Lego Movie we expect better from them. It's a made for TV movie scrapped together and paper thin and that explains why it's gotten no positive reviews and a 14% on Rotten Tomatoes. Ouch.
Endless Love:
The next one is some Romeo & Juliet type love story with the exact same score as Winter's Tale on Metacritic and Rotten Tomatoes. You've got to be kidding me. Im done with this film. It's obvious I don't need to explain any more.
About Last Night:
Finally how long did it take to get to a somewhat decent Valentines movie? About Last Night may turn you off because the commercials feature people having sex in a chicken costume and getting caught and it also has Kevin Hart (who starred in the not so fantastic Ride Along). Believe it or not it's actually a decent romp with funny jokes that will leave you happy this Valentines Day. Or whenever this is being published.
Overall according to critics like Globe and Mail,Entertainment Weekly,Rolling Stone, and Village Voice who have pretty good opinions the only one is About Last Night. Other are pretty crap.

Lone Survivor was one of the new more aspiring movies of 2014. It's about Marcus Lutrell's Navy Seal story in which he had to hunt down a wanted terrorist with 3 other seals. He was the Lone Survivor as the movie says. A helicopter was even sent after him with 16 people but was shot down. Now a new movie is coming out based off of his story. However it's made from the guy who directed Battleship even though it has actors such as Mark Wahlberg and Taylor Kitsch. Let's check if it butchers the story.
It doesn't thankfully but it's not a Full Metal Jacket or even a Saving Private Ryan. It's not generic and has enough to keep you going but it's a little bit shallow. The movie is gripping but some scenes are loose and confusing which might affect your viewpoint of the movie. However its still an exasperating story none the less.

47 Ronin looks like a somewhat fresh and exciting movie. It's a samurai action flick and features a barrage of newcomer directors and actors. It's a risk on Universal's part and it might pay off. But really theres more to 47 Ronin than meets the eye. The movie's had a troubled development cycle and it's finally out with a 12% on RottenTomatoes. Looks like this is the new Battlefield Earth ladies and gentlemen.
While 47 Ronin may look cool it's really just a bore fest. The film is two hours and it definitely feels like it overstays it's welcome as USA Today and Empire have said. This is partly due to the CGI being used overwhelmingly and it just being a movie with no gas left in the engine. This is a stinker and stay away from it as much as possible.

Chris Hemsworth has not really shown is acting power in the past few years. The Avengers was not a movie really based off of performances (though it was a amazing nevertheless) Red Dawn flopped and Snow White was a low point for Hemsworth. However many fans of his films have been looking forward to Rush as it is his most serious role yet. Let's find out if his performance is worth while and also the movie. Rush is a masterpiece, and thankfully it saves us from good movie drought we've been getting in the past few weeks. The acting is phenomenal from both leading roles as the Chicago Sun Times says and the movie carries immense emotional weight leading it to be heavily entertaining. Overall see this movie. Rush is rated R.

Vin Diesel is now a powerhouse because of the Fast & The Furious franchise but before that he was known for such movies as Riddick and Saving Private Ryan. Now as Universal is rebooting Riddick let's see if it is maybe better than the original. (The original does not hold up that well) Unfortunately not. While Riddick is not a horrible movie it is certainly not one to reinvigorate the franchise. Well Vin Diesel is still a badass as The Guardian stated the film's writing can get a little bit dry and bland with cheap special effects as Las Vegas Weekly said. Riddick is a meh movie. So overall only see this if you really want to. Riddick is rated R.

Kick-Ass was a hit when it came out in 2010 partly due to it's over-the-top story telling and balls to the wall action. So as Hollywood goes if anything makes a decent amount of money it's thrown into sequel territory. But does Kick Ass 2 punt scores into the stratosphere? (Thats some good writing right there lol) Not so much. Kick-Ass 2 is not a horrific movie as many expected and theres a decent amount of effort put into it but it still holds a 32 on RottenTomatoes and a 47 on Metacritic due to it's repetitive dialogue in which every sentence holds the word f**k,boobs or sh*t. (Citied:Chicago Reader.) Kick Ass 2 is just more of the same and sometimes that does not work out. Overall only see this movie if you want to. Kick-Ass 2 is rated R.

2 Guns is your average action movie with average action stars such as Denzel Washington and Mark Wahlberg. There seems to be a niche for these movies so does 2 Guns hit the mark? (No pun intended) Lets find out.
2 Guns is an OK movie. You'll probably like it actually. Even Salon.com gave it a 7.0 saying its hard to hate it due to the chemistry between Washington and Wahlberg, the acting, and the fast paced action. Unfortunately it's completely forgettable as SSG Syndicate stated and the writing is pretty bare-bones. But with a movie like this what do you expect?

Thankfully Universal has farted out two original films in the same week. Well Turbo is just well, I'll talk about that travesty later but what about R.I.P.D? So uh R.I.P.D has not gotten a single positive review on Metacritic with critics like Variety and Entertainment Weekly stating it's dry script and Examiner.com said that the CGI was bountiful but too bountiful. R.I.P.D has not been racking in big numbers either. It's definitely this years Rock Of Ages. Overall no. Maybe a Netflix rental when you are drunk but even thats not satisfying the bad aftertaste this movie has. R.I.P.D is rated PG-13.

Remember how Pixar shined the market in animation a couple years back? Well underdogs started arriving into the stage especially Despicable Me which now has a sequel but the question yells is it any good. Surprisingly yes.
Despicable Me 2 is one of those rare movies where every single person working on it works their ass off. The movie looks beautiful and Steve Carell is an amazing voice actor for Gru as ReviewsOnTheRun said. Despicable Me 2 is proof that animated movies can now be refreshing.

The Purge is about a twelve hour period each year were all crime is legal. During that time a family tries to hide. The trailer looked interesting but does that happen with this movie? Let's enter the dangerous Purge and find out.
The good news about The Purge is that the plot is original. Everything else is pure crap filled with bad acting and horror movie cliches as Reviews On The Run said. They even gave it a 0.25! OUT OF 10!! Time Out New York also called it repetitive.
Overall only see this movie if you really really want to.

Fast & Furious series is one of the biggest action series ever. And every movie gets better for some reason unlike most franchises. Cough,Ice Age,Cough. When you see a Fast & Furious movie. Your side effects are stupid. This movie is long. (Source:Scott C Jones) But however critics can easily turn their brain off. 72%? 61 On Metacritic? I think you know what you have to do. Overall see this if you want to. You can argue with yourself if it's a waste of time, if you don't have finals tommorow try it. Fast & Furious 6 is rated PG-13.

Oblivion is about Tom Cruise who plays as Jack Harper, one of the only men on Earth, whose purpose is to reprogram drones. Then Jack resuces a stranger from Earth and every thing changes forever. Add Tom Cruise and the director of Tron:Legacy and do you have generic or amazing. The answer is generic based off of critics.CNN complained how it was derivative, and how the special effects make up most of the movie, and the plot is too confusing. However it does look good and Tom Cruise's performance is pretty good. Overall only see this movie if you want to. Oblivion is rated PG-13.

Identity Thief is truly ironic. I'm just gonna say it's a bad movie then and there and we can laugh about what the critics say later. Why Identity Thief is truly ironic is because it's story revolves around Melissa McCarthy as Sandy Bigelow Patterson who is an Identity Thief. Bigelow is the last name of the director of Zero Dark Thirty and The Hurt Locker. Those movies are far superior than this piece of crap. Identity Thief was called stupid by Salon.com and Sloppy from the Toronto Star. ReviewsOnTheRun complained about how the film is so repetitive with it's scenes and how there is usually a good joke every fifteen minutes. If i were to watch Identity Thief I would watch it with a rewind button. Overall do not see this movie. Identity Thief is rated R.

Guillermo Del Toro is one hella smart guy. Unfortunately he lacks in producing because his latest movie Mama about some demon kids living the woods has a 62%. That's not horrible but I think he's putting all his attention into Pacific Rim nowadays. The only reason that Mama is getting good reviews is that it is cliche as The New York Times stated but manages not to scare with gore but to scare with other tactics. Some other movies have done this (House At The End Of The Street) but it has not really worked. Glad to see that Mama can change the game. Overall see this movie. Mama is rated PG-13.

When Les Miserables was getting scores a week ago they were mildly low. Hugh Jackman even said on 60 Minutes that the film would either be a hit or a miss. Well Mr.Jackman is a 64 a hit? No. It is not a miss though. Les Miserables is based off the hit play of the same name. Why Les Miserables is so different is that it was not mouthed by actors. It was all live. Rolling Stone did not care about the movies imperfections and said that the writing, humor, and special effects were incredible. Mike Scott of the New Orleans Times said that Les Miserables is a good film but it is also a love it or hate it film. Lastly Chicago Tribune gave it a nasty review criticizing the choreography. Overall only see this movie if you wanna. Les Miserables is rated PG-13.

Well this movie came out of nowhere. " Hey we're making a sequel to Knocked Up! (Well Sort Of). This is 40 is about the characters Pete and Debbie and as they turn 40. Luckily This Is 40 does not have an ironic score (40) but it still has not a good one. (58) Entertainment Weekly gave one of the few highly positive reviews (Ohh , Entertainment Weekly) saying that when This is 40 is funny it is comedy gold. It has good acting as Christian Science Monitor explained but overall This Is 40 is a disappointment to Knocked Up fans. It does not have the heart or soul. Overall only see this movie if you wanna. This Is 40 is rated R.

Well turns out a new genre of movies (rapper directed one's) tend out not to be very good. New York Post complained that the film should be only two minutes long, McClatchy Tribune New Service said that RZA is a terrible narrator,writer,actor,and director,Reel Film Reviews called a mess and lastly Slant Magazine gave the film a 5\10 but they did say the choreography was good. Overall do not see this movie. It is crap. That is all. The Man With The Iron Fists is rated R.
