Critics Consensus:The Fault In Our Stars

Hi! We are Critics Consensus.  We post the regular critics opinion for video games and movies! Today it is the all new movie based off of the hit John Green novel, The Fault In Our Stars!!
Back in 2011 a little book came out called The Fault In Our Stars. It was written by John Green who had made plenty of teenage romance books before that had lots of charm and wit but sadly never really enough commercial success. And then The Fault In Our Stars happened. It's catch that made it so successful?(If you can call it that) the kids have cancer. Hollywood wouldn't wanna screw up a movie like that right? Right?
Thank the stars yes apparently. Despite having many appearances on horrible cliche networks like MTV critics are saying that this movie has some wonderful pacing,a beautiful soundtrack, and tough emotional moments that are like nothing you have seen in a teenage movie before. Shy away Twilight. This is one film that truly deserves all the acclaim it gets.
Overall see this movie.
The Fault In Our Stars is rated PG-13.

Critics Consensus:X-Men:Days Of Future Past

Hi! We are Critics Consensus.  We post the regular critics opinion for video games and movies! Today it is the all new X-Men movie!!
X-Men has had a mostly good track record. The first two films were excellent and then a catastrophic mistake happened with the third. Unfortunately that wasn't the case with First Class and that's not the case apparently with Days Of Future Past. Why?
According to critics it's the best X-Men film in years.NPR praised the new cast such as Quicksilver while ReviewsOnTheRun praised the returning cast from old films. And the acting isn't just the sweet spot in this film,it's everything. The CGI,script and plot have been pretty much praised by everyone alike and this time 20th Century Fox really shows that X-Men were always on top of their class after all.
Overall see this movie.
Days Of Future Past is rated PG-13.

Critics Consensus:The Other Woman

Hi! We are Critics Consensus.  We post the regular critics opinion for video games and movies! Today it is an all new romantic comedy with Kate Upton and Cameron Diaz! Hang on a sec. How could this possibly be good.
Kate Upton hasn't really been in a movie besides for some Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Compilation or some crap like that and it's obvious that a lot of people are only going to see this just for a snippet of Kate Uptons boobs in a bra or some crap like that. So when a movie is probably going to sell for that reason it probably doesn't have substance. And that's exactly what The Other Woman is.
Unsurprisingly, The Other Woman is going to be a boring, unpleasant film to watch for people that are looking for a good thoughtful film. In fact the only thing that saves this film is Leslie Mann as the Philadelphia Inquirer said. But if you don't care and wanna see a movie just like any other rom-com  with a bunch of your lady friends or whatever you probably will have have a good time.
Overall only see this movie if you want to.
The Other Woman is rated PG-13.

Critics Consensus:Mr Peabody & Sherman

Hi! We are Critics Consensus.  We post the regular critics opinion for video games and movies! Today it is an all new animated film based off of the classic 60s TV Show!
A lot of the time it's hard to reboot something that's very old into something that both kids and adults that have seen the original will like. Mr. Peabody & Sherman is attempting this but we know for sure. Mr.Peabody will never be as hilarious as the minions.
They won't come close but they will succeed. Mr. Peabody & Sherman currently has a 77 on RottenTomatoes and a 59 on Metacritic. It's nowhere as good as The Lego Movie but still an enjoyable ride from the beginning to the end that will most likely have your kids laughing while you are actually paying attention to the movie and not sleeping or on your phone cause it's not that bad.
Overall see this movie if you have kids.
Mr Peabody & Sherman is rated PG.

Critics Consensus:The Grand Budapest Hotel

Hi! We are Critics Consensus.  We post the regular critics opinion for video games and movies! Today it is the all new film from Wes Anderson!
Wes Anderson has now become a household game in indie film making thanks to films like Fantastic Mr Fox and Moonrise Kingdom. Now his new film The Grand Budapest Hotel is out in limited release and it's breaking records once again. Any guesses why?
Well mostly because its probably the first great indie film of the year. It's funny and inventive as Wes Anderson always is and has been praised from such critics as Los Angeles Times,Time Out New York, and The New York Times who all gave it nearly perfect scores due to it's unexpected and downright great script, it's great cinematography and once again small name actors in big great roles. This one's definitely a one to book.
Overall see this movie.
The Grand Budapest Hotel is rated R.

Critics Consensus:3 Days To Kill

Hi! We are Critics Consensus.  We post the regular critics opinion for video games and movies! Today it is the all new Kevin Costner hunt down 3 Days To Kill!
No offense but the publisher of this movie Relativity Media doesn't really have a good track record. They help produce movies all the way from Universal to Focus Features but none of them end up being very good. Wether it's the unmemorable generic family feast that was Free Birds or the absolutely atrocious 21 And Over there really is nothing to appreciate brightly in Relativity's portfolio. But can a new action thriller with Kevin Costner lift spirits? Lets find out.
Nope. Not one bit. 3 Days To Kill is every bit generic and boring with a little bit of a confusing bad script and unlikeable characters poured on instead. As critics like Globe And Mail,Nerdist and ReelViews suggested not even the delightable Kevin Coster can save this one. Looks like this movie was killed before it even stood up. Ouch.
Overall do not see this movie.
3 Days To Kill is rated PG-13.

Critics Consensus:Devil's Due

Hi! We are Critics Consensus.  We post the regular critics opinion for video games and movies! Today it is the all new Devil's Due!
You may have heard of Devil's Due after the insanely viral video that triggered 20 million+ views in a couple of days of a viral animatronic demon baby in New York City. That video was actually for the movie Devil's Due and you mine as well think that with a great advertising campaign like that the movie would be pretty rock solid. Not so much.
It's only gotten one positive review (from The Playlist) who gave it an underwhelmingly low score with a 67. They stated that there were a lot of things that ruined the scares such as crappy character development. It's also got a nobody cast and The Guardian called it an Exorcist on Snapchat. Ow that hurts.
Overall do not see this movie.
Devil's Due is rated R.

Critics Consensus:The Secret Life Of Walter Mitty

Hi! We are Critics Consensus.  We post the regular critics opinion for video games and movies! Today it is the all new Ben Stiller movie and it's not Night Of The Museum this time!
Ben Stiller is a wild card. He's had some great and definitely memorable performances such as Tropico Thunder and Greenberg but he's also had some failures (like all of the Night Of The Museum movies) and Tower Hiest. He now returns for a somewhat serious movie about a man escaping a generic life titled The Secret Life Of Walter Mitty. Let's see if it's worth the ticket price.
It's probably worth about half it were basing this on reviews because The Secret Life Of Walter Mitty currently has a 47% on Rotten Tomatoes. This is probably due to it's wild ambitious offerings and odd writing. While it's not a bad thing it's certainly offputting and it might only make you want to see it if you really want to.
Overall see this movie if you want to.
The Secret Life Of Walter Mitty is rated PG.

Critics Consensus: The Counselor

Hi! We are Critics Consensus.  We post the regular critics opinion for video games and movies! Today it is a new original film from Ridley Scott about law and gangsters.
Ridley Scott's last movie Prometheus was originally well received but then hated for making more questions than solving answers and just being two damn long. Well know he's directing a new movie made by a new aspiring writer. Let's see how it is shall we?
The Counselor stars many actors like Michael Fassbender,Javier Bardem, Penelope Cruz,Brad Pitt and Cameron Diaz. Now this is not a good sign. Many movies that have starred a significant amount of well-known Hollywood greats have failed. Just look at this years Movie 43 which got horrid reviews and last years Savages which failed tremendously critically and commercially. The same might happen to The Counselor with it's 35% due to it's dull story and repetitive action and is insanely similar to Oliver Stone's Savages as Portland Oreganion said and they even gave it a 0.
Overall do not see this movie.
The Counselor is rated M.

One Of The Worst:Runner Runner

Hi! We are Critics Consensus.  We post the regular critics opinion for video games and movies! Today it is the new Ben Affleck thriller Runner Runner.
It seems that every thriller Ben Affleck appears in is pure gold. Argo,Good Will Hunting, and The Town are perfect examples. But every actor has their weak points and it seems that Runner Runner is a strong one.
Runner Runner currently has an 8% on RottenTomatoes and a 37 on Metacritic meaning that it is crappy beyond belief. This is probably because of all the hype we have had for Ben Affleck after the Oscar fest that Argo was. Runner Runner is the exact opposite of Argo. It has a horribly poor script and tries way to hard to be another great thriller. Hey Runner Runner producers. You might want to check out Gravity. Then work on becoming a better freakin writer.
Overall do not see this movie.
Runner Runner is rated R.

Critics Consensus:Percy Jackson:Sea Of Monsters

Hi! We are Critics Consensus. We post the regular critics opinion for video games and movies! Today it is the new not so long awaited Percy Jackson sequel.

It's funny because the original Percy Jackson didn't even do well commercially or critically. It was meant to be the next Harry Potter or Twilight series but nothing really boosted it to fame. But you know what? Every thing gets the sequel tag slapped on it so here's another one.
Percy Jackson:The Sea Of Monster is atrocious. The plot is contrived on so many levels and every character is generic screamed out in a megaphone. The script does not do much better either with the two hour runtime. A lot of critics have given this a 20\100 or below so
Overall stay away.
Percy Jackson: Sea Of Monsters is rated PG-13.

Critics Consensus: The Wolverine

Hi! We are Critics Consensus. We post the regular critics opinion for video games and movies! Today it is the new Wolverine movie!
X-Men Origins:Wolverine was a gargantuan flop. It did bad with critics and audiences and thanks to bad word of mouth, 20th Century Fox did not have another Wolverine movie for four years. But Marvel is hitting it back with somewhat of a Wolverine reboot? Is this worse than Origins and have Wolverine's day's past or is it a big hitter for the summer.
Well based off of critics, neither. The Wolverine has gotten a lot of good reviews (Washington Post,Salon.com,Variety)mediocre reviews ( Arizona Republic,Empire, Total Film) and a lot of bad reviews. (Time Out New York,Film.Com,Time Out London.) It's certainly a mixed bag with good acting from Hugh Jackman and cool special effects but does cascade with a wonky script.
Overall only see this if you want to.
The Wolverine is rated PG-13.

Critics Consensus:Turbo

Hi! We are Critics Consensus. We post the regular critics opinion for video games and movies! Today it is the new animated movie Turbo! Let's see how this does against Planes.
It's interesting to see if audiences will fall for original films for kids. Maybe that's why Pixar has been making so many sequels? Anyway we're off track. Let's get back on the track of Turbo.
Turbo has not been doing so strong at the box office and maybe that's because a story about a snail is not compelling to audiences but it's more than that as the movie drags and is too long as The Playlist said and Decent Films Guide for complaining about no character development. Turbo might be somewhat of a fun movie to see with kids if you have them but it's certainly not a Despicable Me.
Overall only see this with your kids.
Turbo is rated PG.

Critics Consensus:The Heat

Hi! We are Critics Consensus. We post the regular critics opinion for video games and movies! Today it is a new comedy starring Melissa Mcarthy and Sandra Bullock!
Ok. Here's an interesting premise. The Heat stars the comedy star Melissa Mcarthy and not-usually a comedy star Sandra Bullock together in a buddy cop movie. And apparently they actually have good chemistry. Too bad the movie isn't amazing.
The Heat has gotten just above mediocre reviews with a 65 on Rotten Tomatoes and a 60 on Metacritic. The duo has good chemistry as Denver Post explained but if only the script was a little bit better.
Overall only see The Heat if you want to.
The Heat is rated R.

Critics Consensus:The Internship

Hi! We are Critics Consensus. We post the regular critics opinion for video games and movies! Today it is a new comedy about Google interns.
The Internship is about aspiring Google interns. It stars Owen Wilson, and Vince Vaughn an old comedy duo last seen in 2005's Wedding Crashers. So can The Internship reboot their career or drop it like Bing's fate?
No. At times the Internship feels like a two hour advertisement as The New York Times said. It's somewhat funny as ReviewsOnTheRun stated but only for a couple of minutes and then it just sidetracks. This is a turn your brain off type of movie.
Overall only see this if you really want to.
The Internship is rated PG-13.

Critics Consensus:Epic

Hi! We are Critics Consensus. We post the regular critics opinion for video games and movies! Today it is a new animated movie from the creators of Ice Age! I'm getting less and less excited each word.
Blue Sky is getting more popular each year. Yes they are not PIXAR, but they are getting more and more popular. Well at least they are bringing in a new franchise. (Looking at you Dreamworks)
Let's face it. Epic is your average kids movie. With a 54 and a 63% its not going to fully engage you as Newark Star Ledger said but if you want the kids to get out of the house, this and a amusement park would work really well.
Overall only see this movie if you want to.
Epic is rated PG.

Critics Consensus:Stoker

Hi! We are Critics Consensus. We post the regular critics opinion for video games and movies! Today it is a new horror movie with Nicole Kidman.
I have good news and bad news for you. Stoker is a great movie. Well not exactly great compared to Argo but I'm hoping for another 2012 where all the good movies come out in the end. The bad news is that this is the only good movie that comes out this week. That was a bit stupid to think Jack The Giant Slayer and 21 And Over would be good movies but whatever.
Stoker does not have the best writing as explained by The Boston Globe but the acting is amazing and the film's scares are worth the whole experience. Hey Empire gave the film a 100\100 and they are pretty hard critics to impress. Maybe a 69% does not mean too much.
Overall see this movie.
Stoker is rated R.

Critics Consensus: A Good Day To Die Hard

Hi! We are Critics Consensus. We post the regular critics opinion for video games and movies! Today it is a new Die Hard movie.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Is the sound that fans said when the director for the last Die Hard movie was announced. It was also a PG-13 movie in which you can't say motherf*cker which you need to say in a Die Hard movie. Fans were ready to be disappointed. A Good Day To Die Hard's director was announced a year ago and fans had an even longer NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Why? This director (John Moore) directed Max Payne. That is known as one of the worst films of all time.
Sadly, A Good Day To Die Hard will be known as one of the most disappointing sequels of all time. I do not even want to explain how Badass Digest said that it sucked or that ReviewsOnTheRun's Ben Bolea said that the film was repetitive and made by stupid people for stupid people. Or that Village Voice said The movie is constructed like a window some kid broke and then tried to glue back together. I do not have words to explain my hatred for John Moore. Thanks for ruining a franchise.
Overall do not see this movie.
A Good Day To Die Hard (Sniff) is rated R.

Critics Consensus: Broken City

Hi! We are Critics Consensus. We post the regular critics opinion for video games and movies! Today it is Broken City a new Mark Wahlberg movie!

There's bad Mark Wahlberg movies and theirs Mark Wahlberg movies that are so bad you want to forget them entirely (Max Payne, The Happening). I have good news and bad news. Broken City is not that. But Broken City is still dog crap.
Toronto Star thought that the movie was so bad that the actors agents must have been drunk accepting this. Why Broken City is forgettable, has poor writing and is constantly action and no story. If you like that, you deserve a slap in the face.
Overall do not see this movie. Trust me it's one of those Bargain Bin movies you see 3 years later.
Broken City is rated R.

Critics Consensus: Parental Guidance

Hi! We are Critics Consensus. We post the regular critics opinion for video games and movies! Today it is Parental Guidance a new comedy starring Billy Crystal.
Well Billy Crystal has not appeared in a movie since who knows when and that is usually a bad sign when you are coming back to Hollywood and producing another movie. Especially when it's a Christmas comedy. When was the last time that was good news?
Parental Guidance stars Billy Crystal and Bette Middler as grandparents taking care of their kids over the holidays. Most of the actors in the movie are talented child actors who have just fallen into a movie that will not diminish their career but not help it in anyway possible because Parental Guidance has only one positive review on Metacritic, called dated from Sun Online, and The Los Angeles Times calling the script lazy.
Overall do not see this movie.
Parental Guidance is rated PG-13.
