Critics Consensus:Valiant Hearts:The Great War

Hi! We are Critics Consensus.  We post the regular critics opinion for video games and movies! Today it is the all new artsy Ubisoft game based off of the horrors of war,Valiant Hearts!
Say what you want about Ubisoft and all the controversy surrounding the Watch Dogs hype, lack of female characters, and micro transactions in The Division. Because when these people put their mind to it they can create some amazing beautiful stuff. First we got Rayman Legends. Next was Child Of Light. And now Valiant Hearts.
Valiant Hearts:The Great War is an art piece. Digitally Downloaded praised how it took a new direction of how war is portrayed in games and how it is really never fun and Eurogamer Italy praised how the game also took a spin at human nature. It's also received and 82 on Metacritic and 3 9\10s. This game is an artistic masterpiece to say the least and we should support Ubisoft to make more games like this. So go buy it right now.
Yes I mean now. Steam,XBLA,PSN whatever. Now is the time.
Valiant Hearts:The Great War is rated T.

Critics Consensus:Super Time Force

Hi! We are Critics Consensus.  We post the regular critics opinion for video games and movies! Today it is the all new sidescrolling shooter from Capybara, Super Time Force!
Although Capybara's been prepping up for their roguelike Below, let's not forget one major factor. That Super Time Force game we we're promised back in 2012 for the Xbox 360. It was supposed to be a nostalgic sidescrolling shooter with Saturday Morning cartoon style cutscenes and then it kind of disappeared into the darkness never to be seen again. So what happened to Super Time Force now that it's back and on Xbox One? Let's find out.
Apparently Super Time Force is good any way you take it. It's gotten a 10\10 from Hardcore Gamer Magazine and has been called astonishing and laugh out loud funny by IGN,GameInformer, and GamesRadar all while being hard as nails aswell. That must mean it's got an addictive side to it and when anything is as good as that, it must be a bang for your buck.
Overall get this game.
Super Time Force is rated T.

Critics Consensus:Trials Fusion

Hi! We are Critics Consensus.  We post the regular critics opinion for video games and movies! Today it is the next Trials game!
In 2009 an aspiring indie studio released an XBLA version of one of their flash games. The game ended up being one of the best selling XBLA and downloadable games to date so what other way to release a sequel? That sequel ended up being Trials Evolution which was praised for it's fantastic level editor which could let you make (im not joking) first person shooters and platformers in a motorcycle game. This time Trials is back and it's set in the future. Let's see if it seems like they are running out of ideas here.
Apparently RedLynx isn't. Yes Trials Fusion tries to assemble a plot unlike the other games and do to it's poor results of that it was one of the reasons AusGamers gave it a 5\10. However nearly all of the reviews have been positive praising its graphics, challenges, new improvements, and humour something that is rarely present in games these days.
Overall get this game.
Trials Fusion is rated E10+.

Critics Consensus:The Wolf Among Us

Hi! We are Critics Consensus.  We post the regular critics opinion for video games and movies! Today it is Telltale's new game!
This week has been a pretty interesting week for release dates considering two interactive dramas have come out. Beyond Two Souls from Heavy Rain creators Quantic Dream and The Wolf Among Us from The Walking Dead creators Telltale Games. The surprising thing is The Wolf Among Us is actually getting better reviews than Beyond. Let's find out why.
As Ign and GameInformer said the game is well written and has a fantastic art style. It's sufficiently better than Telltales last game The Walking Dead and is gripping from every decision. Looks like Telltale has now just started churning great games out of their company. Good for them.
Overall get this game. Its only 5 dollars!
The Wolf Among Us is rated M.

One Of The Worst:Takedown: Red Sabre

Hi! We are Critics Consensus.  We post the regular critics opinion for video games and movies! Today it is the new tactical shooter Takedown:Red Sabre!
It's sad because Takedown:Red Sabre had a really cool game and it had a really good showing at PAX. However this is sad because the game had so much potential at the showings it was presented at and looked like another blockbuster FPS for 505 (They already have Payday and Sniper Elite) Unfortunately a cool name does not make everything good. Let's see some of the examples Takedown:Red Sabre fails in every way.
  • AI is nearly non-existent (only reacts to certain weapons)
  • Single player will randomly crash because of multiplayer server issues
  • The game does not shut down on it's own and you have to close it on Task Manager.
  • No tactical options as the E3 Demos promised
  • No proper options menu for PC players
  • Shooting is clunky
Cited:IGN,Gamespot,TotalBiscuit,3DJuegos
Overall do not buy this game.
Takedown:Red Sabre is rated M.

Critics Consensus: Foul Play

Hi! We are Critics Consensus.  We post the regular critics opinion for video games and movies! Today it is a new Xbox Live indie brawler!
Yes GTA V came out a few days ago. And yes it was a behemoth. But what if you have a friend over and you don't want to go the regular route? Well a indie brawler has recently come out called Foul Play.
Unfortunately Foul Play is not a Castle Crashers,Scott Pilgrim or a Charlie Murder as IGN Italia said. Luckily Foul Play is a good way to kill time but unfortunately it's very repetitive and lacks a lot of depth though the story and gameplay keep you in for the ride as God Is A Geek stated. Foul Play is good if you have a brother and a friend over so buy it if that ever so happens.
Overall only get this game if you want to.
Foul Play is rated E10+.

One Of The Worst:Flashback

Hi! We are Critics Consensus. We post the regular critics opinion for video games and movies! Today it is the new HD remake of Flashback!
Flashback was a hit back in the 90's with it's revolutionary gameplay similar to Out Of This World and now in order to celebrate the anniversary Ubisoft is doing homage to Flashback with an HD remake (Spoiler Alert:It's not that good.)
The biggest reason that Flashback is crap is all in GameInformer's review in which they gave it a 3.0. Flashback has many many bugs and wonky controls all which disrupt the gameplay from it's full potential which is sad considering that Flashback will never be touched on again and only has this crappy arcade game to take care of it.
Overall don't play this game.
Flashback is rated T.

Critics Consensus:Ducktales Remastered

Hi! We are Critics Consensus. We post the regular critics opinion for video games and movies! Today it is the new Ducktales HD remake!
When you think of nostalgia you usually think as a gamer Ducktales. Ducktales is one of the most recognized platformers in gaming history and Capcom surprised us all at this years PAX that Ducktales would be available for your Xbox 360,Playstation 3, and WiiU in less than a year. But does the port bode well or should it not be put on your bill.
Interestingly enough Ducktales is getting very mixed reviews. And that's simply because Ducktales has not aged well as PCGamer said. The difficulty can be through the roof and the repitition can be simply obnoxious. However the remastered graphics and new additions save the game from epitome. Machinima even gave this a 90!
Overall only get this game if you want to.
Ducktales Remastered is rated E10+.

Critics Consensus:Brothers:A Tale Of Two Sons

Hi! We are Critics Consensus. We post the regular critics opinion for video games and movies! Today it is a new action adventure game where you control two players at the same time! Interesting!
Microsoft's Summer Of Arcade lineup has always been strong with titles like Trials HD,Splosion Man,Dust An Elysian Tail, and Limbo. However to due Microsoft's focus on the Xbox One the Summer Of Arcade has been a little bit dry. Except for one title from Starbreeze (developers of The Darkness) who aim to turn around this summer's season of games.
Brothers:A Tale Of Two Sons is emotionally captivating as Eurogamer Italy said. It is immensely satisfying as Games Master UK stated as well and is looking to be one of the best downloadable games of the year. The only few knock offs are that it's short but this game is amazing either way.
Overall get this game. It's cheap and definitely worth it.
Brothers:A Tale Of Two Sons is rated T.

Critics Consensus: Cloudberry Kingdom

Hi! We are Critics Consensus. We post the regular critics opinion for video games and movies! Today it is a new indie platformer Cloudberry Kingdom!
Last year a little game came out called Spelunky that was insanely hard and some of the best fun I've had with friends. Personally it was my favorite game of 2012 and I am still playing it to this day. Now there's a new game called Cloudberry Kingdom which is really similar to Spelunky (randomly generated levels, local co-op) and well let's see what the critics think.
Cloudberry Kingdom might turn you off because of it's name (pretty poor name) and it looks like a Flash game as VideoGamerTV said. Unfortunately Cloudberry Kingdom is fun but does not have the best batch of content and will get old after awhile.(Citied:Nowgamer) But if you have a lot of friends over and can spend ten dollars to throw away, this will be a good couple of hours.
Overall only get this game if you're having a party or a couple of friends over. Hopefully they won't be turned off by the atrocious name.
Cloudberry Kingdom is rated T.

One Of The Worst:Scourge:Outbreak

Hi! We are Critics Consensus. We post the regular critics opinion for video games and movies! Today it is a new downloadable squad based shooter from UFO Interactive? Those are the same people who make the Chuck-E-Cheese games. This is gonna be one of those days isn't it?
Scourge Outbreak is a typical cover based shooter covered in a layer of crap. Here's why.

  • Scourge Outbreak has a 41 on Metacritic and has not gotten a single positive review.
  • It sometimes starts you from the wrong checkpoint when you resume the game.
  • There is an hour long span between checkpoints.
  • The aiming is all wonky and off.
  • Textures do not properly place in
  • Everyeye.it called it one of the poorest games of this generation.
That should be enough to not make you buy this game. Too bad The Last Of Us has been one of the only good games to come out this summer.

One Of The Worst: Pacific Rim The Game

Hi! We are Critics Consensus. We post the regular critics opinion for video games and movies! Today it is the video game tie-in for Pacific Rim!
I don't know if you remember but when the similar robot fighting movie Real Steel came out there was a god-awful video game tie-in for it. In fact Ben Silverman of Yahoo Games said it was the first time he had thrown a controller in fifteen years.
Well I was looking at Pacific Rim's not so great reviews (40 or below from IGN, IGN Italia and even a 20 from DarkZero) and noticed that the company had made Real Steel. Oh no. This is gonna be one of those days isn't it? SpazioGames called it one of the worst fighting games on Xbox Live and Eurogamer Italy complained about the pacing.
Overall do not get this game. (And I feel bad for saying this because Pacific Rim deserves some form of money after Grown Ups 2 destroyed it at the box office)
Pacific Rim The Game is rated E10+.

Critics Consensus:The Walking Dead:400 Days

Hi! We are Critics Consensus. We post the regular critics opinion for video games and movies! Today it is The Walking Dead:400 Days!
The Walking Dead was one of the big hitters of 2012 (game or show) and even won a few Game Of The Year awards. Actually a lot more than a few. But now with a new episode can Telltale unearth the amazing emotional experience that was Season 1?
Well Telltale hit the nail in the head literally again. Polygon-90 IGN Italia-85 Game Informer-80, 400 Days is amazing. Too bad its just a little too short.
Overall get this game. Its only $5!
The Walking Dead:400 Days is rated M.

Critic Consensus:State Of Decay

Hi! We are Critics Consensus. We post the regular critics opinion for video games and movies! Today it is another zombie game but with a twist.
State Of Decay seems like another average zombie game with a really good title. Originally I was not going to cover this but State Of Decay did something amazing. They sold half a million copies in less than a week with NO ADVERTISING.  Is that special or what?
It's amazing the amount of things you can do in State Of Decay. It's elaborately designed, groundbreaking as IGN explained and ridiculously fun. State Of Decay is probably one of the best zombie games this year, if not the best.
Overall get this game.
State Of Decay is rated M.

Critics Consensus: Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon

Hi! We are Critics Consensus. We post the regular critics opinion for video games and movies! Today it is a new Far Cry 3 expansion that has to do with the 80's. Wha....
I REALLY HOPE you know what you are going into when you load up Far Cry 3:Blood Dragon. I do not expect you to be a total idiot and not know by the box art but if any of you guys bought The Walking Dead:Survival Instinct. Anyway it's an 80's party.
First of all Blood Dragon is funny and full of 80's nostalgia as Steve Zaragoza from Sourcefed said. The whole thing is an adventure and one crazy one to be exact. The gameplay is great as SmoshGames praised and the only thing that could not make Far Cry 3:Blood Dragon better than everything out there is the long annoying cutscenes that span many minutes.
Overall get this game.
Far Cry 3:Blood Dragon is rated M.

Critics Consensus: Monaco:What's Yours Is Mine

Hi! We are Critics Consensus. We post the regular critics opinion for video games and movies! Today it is a new indie title that has gotten much hype called Monaco.
I love indie games. They are better than what the gaming industry offers and gives a break from the COD's and Battlefield's that rule the industry. That''s why I was excited for Monaco a top down stealth game. Well that is new and interesting.
IncGamers praised the price point of the game and stated that they wished it was more because the developer's deserve more (you don't hear that every day) and Joystiq loved the clever design choices.
Overall you have to get this game.
Monaco is rated T.

Critics Consensus:Battleblock Theater

Hi! We are Critics Consensus. We post the regular critics opinion for video games and movies! Today it is Battleblock Theater a new game from the brilliants who make Castle Crashers!
Well The Behemoth's creation has finally been released. It only took what? 5 years? Well let's hope this is not a Duke Nukem Forever or a Aliens: Colonial Marines. Because if so, well there is going to be a lot of crying people.
Well extra extra! Read all about it. Battleblock Theater has an 87. It hasn't even had a negative review and the lowest score was a 78. Silly IGN complained about it's lack of focus, and thats the only complaint we got. Battleblock Theater is fun,has a lot of content and is addictive. It also has co-op. That makes everything better.
Overall get this game.
Battleblock Theater is rated T.

Critics Consensus: Skulls Of The Shogun

Hi! We are Critics Consensus. We post the regular critics opinion for video games and movies! Today it is Skulls Of The Shogun a new strategy game made by Sega.

When we are during a video game drought every title catches our eye. Skulls Of The Shogun is one of them. Even better Skulls Of The Shogun is a rare breed. A strategy game for a console. These are very few and far between like 5 a year. Let's hope this does not disappoint.
Well like XCOM and Planets Under Attack it does not. Game Informer praised the brilliant tactics you can place and Games Master UK praised the graphics. Skulls Of The Shogun is maybe one of the best console strategy games. It should have co-op but that has been the only complaint so far.
Overall get this game if you wanna.
Skulls Of The Shogun is rated T.

Critics Consensus: The Cave

Hi! We are Critics Consensus. We post the regular critics opinion for video games and movies! Today it is The Cave a new downloadable platformer from Double Fine.
Double Fine has a track record of never giving a disappointment. They also have a track record of moving with different publishers and poor sales records. However fans love em. Sadly Double Fine's newest game The Cave is not getting the best reception.
The Cave has been getting a lot and when I mean a lot I mean a lot of mixed reviews. Some critics have given it a 8.5 like SmoshGames who praised the story and other reviewers like Gamespot who deflected the challenging puzzles. Lastly Strategy Informer gave the worst review with a 4.0 out of 10 calling it a major disappointment.
Overall only get this game if you want to.
The Cave is rated E10+.

Critics Consensus: Mark of The Ninja

Hi! We are Critics Consensus. We post the regular critics opinion for video games and movies! Today it is Mark Of The Ninja a new game from the same people that brought you Shank.
Remember Shank? Remember Eets? Well those same guys that brought you those games have brought you Mark Of The Ninja. It has one point away from getting a 90 on Metacritic and it is not like that is and easy thing to do. Official Xbox Magazine said it was a brilliant approach to stealth games, EGM praised the games mechanics and in game items, EDGE Magazine praised the visuals and lastly IGN called it a contender for Xbox Live Game Of The Year 2012.
Overall is that enough to make you wanna get the game because you should no matter what.

Mark Of The Ninja is rated M.
