Critics Consensus:How To Train Your Dragon 2

Hi! We are Critics Consensus.  We post the regular critics opinion for video games and movies! Today it is the sequel to 2010's How To Train Your Dragon!!
Dreamworks has obviously tried to target a more wider demographic and they are doing it even harder this time. While How To Train Your Dragon was a great family movie the all new How To Train Your Dragon 2 is actually trying to attract the Game Of Thrones viewers and teenagers too. Why you may ask? Hiccup has a slight beard in the top photo, and we ain't lying.
Thankfully this doesn't ruin the movies quality in any way as actually it still remains pretty solid. Yes Dreamworks might be cranking out sequels like a factory in some cases (it doesn't help that Kung Fu Panda 3 is coming out soon) but 31 positive reviews and a Certified Fresh score on RottenTomatoes can't lie. HTTYD2 is chock full of script surprises and interesting characters and surprisingly actually teaches kids good morals this time around as Globe and Mail said. Yep we bet you weren't expecting this one, and neither did we.
Overall see this movie. I don't care if it seems like a shoddy kids movie cause there's definitely something deep in this one.
How To Train Your Dragon 2 is rated PG.

Critics Consensus:Need For Speed

Hi! We are Critics Consensus.  We post the regular critics opinion for video games and movies! Today it is the all new Need For Speed movie!
Let's be obvious here. There has never really been any good video games movies. The only halfway decent one was Mortal Kombat and even that has aged pretty badly too. So Dreamworks is rolling out a new Need For Speed movie starring Breaking Bads finest Aaron Paul. Let's see how it is. Obviously not very good if you do the research even before hand.
We knew that Need for Speed would be formulaic and generic and it really is. Just listen to Washington Post,New York Post, and Rolling Stone. It's only gotten a handful of positive reviews (5) but at least it isn't as bad as House Of The Dead,Alone In The Dark or Max Payne. Ok maybe this movie isn't that bad anymore but its still not great.
Overall only see this movie if you really want to. It's not a cheap Fast And The Furious knockoff but you can do much better than this.
Need For Speed is rated PG-13.

Critics Consensus:Mr Peabody & Sherman

Hi! We are Critics Consensus.  We post the regular critics opinion for video games and movies! Today it is an all new animated film based off of the classic 60s TV Show!
A lot of the time it's hard to reboot something that's very old into something that both kids and adults that have seen the original will like. Mr. Peabody & Sherman is attempting this but we know for sure. Mr.Peabody will never be as hilarious as the minions.
They won't come close but they will succeed. Mr. Peabody & Sherman currently has a 77 on RottenTomatoes and a 59 on Metacritic. It's nowhere as good as The Lego Movie but still an enjoyable ride from the beginning to the end that will most likely have your kids laughing while you are actually paying attention to the movie and not sleeping or on your phone cause it's not that bad.
Overall see this movie if you have kids.
Mr Peabody & Sherman is rated PG.

Critics Consensus:Turbo

Hi! We are Critics Consensus. We post the regular critics opinion for video games and movies! Today it is the new animated movie Turbo! Let's see how this does against Planes.
It's interesting to see if audiences will fall for original films for kids. Maybe that's why Pixar has been making so many sequels? Anyway we're off track. Let's get back on the track of Turbo.
Turbo has not been doing so strong at the box office and maybe that's because a story about a snail is not compelling to audiences but it's more than that as the movie drags and is too long as The Playlist said and Decent Films Guide for complaining about no character development. Turbo might be somewhat of a fun movie to see with kids if you have them but it's certainly not a Despicable Me.
Overall only see this with your kids.
Turbo is rated PG.

Critics Consensus:The Croods

Hi! We are Critics Consensus. We post the regular critics opinion for video games and movies! Today it is a new animated movie!

The Croods is aspiring to be a family friendly fun movie about the world's first modern family. Paramount and Dreamworks are trying to step it up after Madagascar 3 and Ice Age 4 proved well at the box office. The question that begs is will this film succeed?
The Croods barely catches the arrow. Film.com praised that it was heart-warming and that it exceeded their low expectations. However the animation is not very good as The New York Times said. At least some kids will appreciate the voice acting which is sub-par.
Overall see this movie if you have kids.
The Croods is rated PG.

Critics Consensus: Lincoln

Hi! We are Critics Consensus. We post the regular critics opinion for video games and movies! Today it is Lincoln a movie about Abraham Lincoln.
Steven Spielberg is at it again. This time with a biopic about Lincoln. Salon.com praised Sally Field's performance as Mary Lincoln,Boston Globe said it made politics exciting, and lastly Chicago Sun Times praised the film's attention to detail. However ReviewsOnTheRun's Scott C. Jones said it felt like five hours instead of one and was boring. If you want to see the movie get prepared.
So overall only see this movie if you want to.
Lincoln is rated PG-13.

Critics Consensus: People Like Us

Hi! We are Critics Consensus. We post the regular daily critics opinion for the newest video games and movies! Today it is People Like Us a new family dramadey made by Dreamworks.
People Like Us's title is ironic because the reviews are meh. For example Leonard Martin,Film.com and other critics complained about the movie being too slow. The writing and the acting are good as Richard Roeper said but the movie falls flat because it feels like a boring soap opera. Movies are movies not soap operas.
Overall only see this if you really want to. Hey the kid on the poster is cute.

People Like Us is rated PG-13.

Critics Consensus: Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted

Hi! We are Critics Consensus. We post the regular daily critics opinion for the newest video games and movies! Today it is the prequel in the Madagascar franchise Madagascar 3.
In 2005 Dreamworks hit it big with the movie Madagascar. While it was not a critical success,it was for sure a box office success. 7 years later Madagascar 3 is here. The critics consensus is OK-Meh. The New York Times praised the 3-D in the movie and many critics even if they hated or liked the movie said the visuals stood out. The thing Madagascar 3 suffers from is horrible pacing but if a kid was watching it it would not care anyway.
Overall you do not need to see it but if you have a kid ages 5-11 they will have the happiest time of their lives.

Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted is rated PG.
