Critics Consensus:The Amazing Spider Man 2

Beenox's track record has been starting to fall apart lately. In 2011 they released Spider Man:Edge Of Time a rather generic uninspired take on Spidey's ventures. Believe it or not the highest score was a 6. Then 2012 rolled around and Beenox released yet another Spider Man game. While this one was definitely better than Edge Of Time it still wasn't up to par with the good ol Spidey days especially Spider Man 2 on the PS2. Will the new Amazing Spider Man 2 fill the niche? Let's find out.

Looks like The "ever so amazing" Spider Man has fallen to some bad reviews. In fact it's nearly up to par with the movie (post coming sunday) and has gotten some really piss poor statements from GameInformer,IGN and Gametrailers alike. Maybe it's the repetitive missions, clunky menus, and glitchy placement overall. Either way skip this spider.

Overall do not buy this game.

Critics Consensus:Diablo 3:Reaper Of Souls

Hi! We are Critics Consensus.  We post the regular critics opinion for video games and movies! Today it is the all new expansion pack for Diablo 3!

Most people were insanely disappointed with Diablo 3 due to the server issues,non improvement over the other games, and mainly not being worth the decade long wait and all the delays it had. But now there's a new Diablo 3 expansion pack\DLC that promises it will be what Diablo 3 was supposed to be and bring you back to Diablo. Lets see if all that was the truth.

The short answer is mostly. The long answer is Diablo 3 Reaper Of Souls isn't the gigantic messup that Diablo 3 was as it has no server issues or auction house, but still has some gripes like the price and same Diablo 3 fare in-between as explained by GamingTrend,IGN and GameInformer. It's a nice package in between but for many non-hardcore Diablo fans this falls on the expensive side.

Overall only get this if you want to.

Critics Consensus:Call Of Duty:Ghosts

Call Of Duty Ghosts is not supposed to be an invigoration into the franchise due to Call Of Duty being the biggest friggin video game franchise in the world. However it's trying not to be a fresh skin of paint due to it starting a new miniseries. The Call Of Duty games have always been known for being ambitious. Let's see how this one is shall we?

Unlike Black Ops 2 which excelled in minor details Call Of Duty Ghosts tries to make many new modes,features,loadouts,accessories,and more. According to critics this new Call Of Duty's main complaint is how these new features actually do not affect the overall game. Besides the extinction mode which is a stinker (Cited:Rev3Games) Most of these things do little to affect the overall experience. It's probably why it got a 5\10 from Destructoid and a 74 on Metacritic. It's not a bad game and not certainly a horrific failure it's just the weakest entry in the Cod franchise due to it's weaknesses. Which are certainly strong in that regard. But if you are a regular COD fanboy this will probably do little to affect the hours you will have with this game.

Overall if you want to get this game really bad just get it now but if you want it a little bit wait for Black Friday.

Critics Consensus:Skylanders Swap Force

Hi! We are Critics Consensus.  We post the regular critics opinion for video games and movies! Today it is the new Skylanders!

It was recently announced that Skylanders was now a billion dollar franchise. And the third game had not even come out yet. The magic of Activision ladies and gentlemen. Instead of churning out the same game like what happened with Skylanders last game Giants, this new Skylanders allows you to swap different parts for your Skylander. (Could be a little bit catchier)
Anyway let's find out if Skylanders is more than just a one trick pony.
One main thing that critics complained about for Swap Force (particularly IGN and AtomicGamer) is the plot. While the plot for a game like this will never be a strong suit the plot feels too repetitive compared to the last games. However Skylanders is still a great gimmick as it always is and if you have or are an 8 year old kid you'll have a blast.
Overall only buy this if you have kids. (It is a little bit expensive though)

Critics Consensus:Diablo 3 (Console)

Hi! We are Critics Consensus. We post the regular critics opinion for video games and movies! Today it is the Diablo 3 console port!

Diablo 3 was supposed to be a behemoth and it was. Well sort of. If Error Code 43 was gone  and PvP were included it could have been played to this day. It was but still not the giant surprise everybody expected. Now that Diablo 3 is on console will it fix those problems?
Apparently yes to critics. Diablo 3 holds a 86 for the Xbox 360 version and a 85 for Playstation 3. GameInformer praised it's new control scheme and the insanely fun four player co-op and less online hurdles it seems that if you ever were going to get Diablo 3 this is definitely the version to get, You will not regret it.
Overall get this game.

One Of The Worst:Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles:Out Of The Shadows

GameInformer rarely ever gives a 2.0 or a 3.0. But 2013 is now and all the awes it has brought us such as The Last Of Us,Tomb Raider, and Bioshock Infinite come with a price. It seems that every amazing game comes with a god-awful game and that is no exception when it comes to TMNT:Out Of The Shadows.

• Technical limitations scatter this game off the charts
• The environments are reminiscent of a PSone title
• The character models are graphically outdated.
• Level depending enemies sometimes disappear before tutorials causing restarts of entire half hour sessions.
• Co-op text is so small it's unreadable.
• Occasional texture pop-ups and fragments
• Invisible Walls are nearly everywhere. 
• You sometimes can fall through the floor.

Keep in mind that all of these things were not just from GameInformer's review. They were from gameblog.fr and GameTrailers too.

Overall do not buy this game.

Critics Consensus:Deadpool

Hi! We are Critics Consensus. We post the regular critics opinion for video games and movies! Today it is the new Deadpool game!

Activision is known for making sub-par to crappy games. Yes they have good studios like Blizzard and Infinity Ward but the average online consensus is Activision just makes Call Of Duty and Skylanders over and over again and makes money. Deadpool however has a lot of promise. But is it good?
Deadpool is not getting amazing reviews for one specific reason. The combat is repetitive and tedious as critics such as Gamereactor Sweden,Game Informer, and Polygon. If you can get past that, there's a lot to chew on here such as many many easter eggs and amazing humour.
Overall only get this if you want to.

Critics Consensus:Fast & The Furious:Showdown

Have you played Aliens:Colonial Marines? Star Trek? How about Walking Dead:Survival Instinct? You have probably played one of those. Guess what? There's something worse than that. It's right in front of you.
The graphics. OOH, The Graphics. It looks like an Xbox launch title as IGN said. It's short and can be completed in less than two hours. The gameplay is repetitive and cars fly around like eggs. Just watch a gameplay video. Your mouth will drop to the ground.
Overall NO NO NO!

Critics Consensus: The Walking Dead:Survival Instinct

Hi! We are Critics Consensus. We post the regular critics opinion for video games and movies! Today it is a new cashgrab. This explains why I hate Activision more than EA.

Back in January a leaked trailer for the Walking Dead Survival Instinct popped up. It made it look like crap. No proper aiming system, worst AI ever, and horrible graphics. We all thought that this would be the worst game of the year. Then Alien:Colonial Marines comes out and we're like: nothing can be worse than that. WE WERE WRONG.
The reason Aliens:Colonial Marines was not sent into the depths of the Underworld was that it had multiplayer. Not the best multiplayer but every little bit helps. The Walking Dead:Survival Instinct has no multiplayer and horrible graphics. Kotaku complained about that crusty compass in the left of your screen and how the game is broken in every way. Also Game Informer complained about the plot and repetitive gameplay.
Overall if you have this game use the disc as a frisbee.

Critics Consensus:Starcraft II:Heart Of The Swarm

So let's say you are a avid PC gamer if you are not one already. The servers on SimCity are down and you just finished TombRaider. Well if you have Starcraft 2 I have some good news for you. There's a new expansion pack that's getting really good reviews.

 For the multiplayer Vandal Online said that it  was enthralling,Edge Magazine called the single player massively enjoyable and 3DJuegos said that the campaign was solid. So ya. Here you go. Are you happy yet?

Critics Consensus: Call of Duty: Black Ops-Declassified

Hi! We are Critics Consensus. We post the regular critics opinion for video games and movies! Today it is a new Call Of Duty game.

Hey guess what? Activision made a new Call Of Duty for the one fan that has a Playstation Vita. Oh and remember that troll that was saying that every COD game was the same? He was wrong but not for the portable versions. Last years port of COD on the DS did not get one positive review and the trend continues with Call of Duty:Black Ops Declassified. Meristation called it the worst game in the Call Of Duty series,Giant Bomb gave it a 2\10 and Game Informer called it an absolute mess. Why? The single player is poor and short, the multi player maps are so small that every player is literally crammed into a room and lastly and no content.
Overall do not get this game. If you want to waste fifty dollars fine by me.
Call of Duty Black Ops:Declassified is rated M.

Critics Consensus: Call Of Duty Black Ops II

Hi! We are Critics Consensus. We post the regular critics opinion for video games and movies! Today it is a new Call Of Duty game.

Graphics:
SmoshGames said that the graphics were slightly improved while doing their Dope Or Nope of the game and Canadian Online Gamers complained of the sixty frames per second saying it could be better frame rate compared to other triple A games out there. Cough, Mass Effect, Cough. Overall the graphics will not surprise you but not disappoint you.
Gameplay:
There is always the controversial topic that very Call Of Duty game is the same with little improvements. I am going to say that is not true though some people will not agree with me. VideoGamer said the single player was piss poor but the multiplayer made up for it. Gamespot on the other hand said the single player was good and praised the Zombies mode. They still have not removed the annoying swearing eight year old kids. Sorry about that.
Other (Sound,Plot):
Joystiq said the story was lackluster and lukewarm but the multiplayer made up for it and MetroGameCentral said that it was one of the best COD's because it was so ambitious.
Overall:
Only get this game if you want to.

Well remember last year when your kids were like Mommy\Daddy! Can I get the new Skylanders game! You would ask why because you would not think your child knew about Skylanders and then you find out it is a giant toy gimmick. Or you are like me where I do not have kids and found out about it some way or another.
Those toy shenanigans are going to happen again thanks to a new Skylanders game. Do not worry because you will have fun with your kids playing this game because 82% of critics liked it,Gaming Nexus said it would satisfy all gamers,Canadian Online Gamers praised the new characters,and lastly Worth Playing said that it was fun for all gamers. 
Overall only get this game if you have kids.

Critics Consensus:007 Legends

When Goldeneye came out for the Wii critical acclaim flopped onto Goldeneye like drunk kids playing dogpile. Then Goldeneye:Reloaded and Blood Stone came out and those were pretty terrible. Activision had one chance to redeem themselves with 007 Legends. What ends up is a generic rippoff of Call Of Duty like IGN and GamingTrend stated,uninspired as called by Game Informer,while the only good thing is the multiplayer as Gaming Nexus stated. 
Overall do not get this game.

Critics Consensus: Transformers: Fall Of Cybertron

Hi! We are Critics Consensus. We post the regular critics opinion for video games and movies! Today it is Transformers: Fall Of Cybertron a sequel to Transformers: War for Cybertron.

Great news for Transformers fans. The new Transformers: Fall Of Cybertron is fun as explained by Gaming Trend, Canadian Online Gamers stated that it delivers on so many levels, and lastly Planet Xbox 360 praised the action saying that it was "enough for two games." The only problem is that it is not the greatest improvement from it's predecessor but that probably does not matter when you are having loads of fun.
Overall get this game of you are a Transformers fan but if you do not care about Transformers this is a rent.

Critics Consensus: The Amazing Spider-Man

Hi! We are Critics Consensus. We post the regular daily critics opinion for the newest video games and movies! Today it is The Amazing Spider-Man the adaptation of the new movie coming out next week.

Usually I do not cover game based movie reviews on this blog because movie games usually suck. This one sounded kinda interesting (actually only interesting because of the crazy Stan Lee DLC.) Surprisingly,the game is OK according to critics but like critics Gamereactor Sweden and Destructoid said the gameplay feels very similar to the Batman: Arkham Asylum series.The best thing about the game is the overwhelming amount of content (about 30 hours) which Planet Xbox 360 and Canadian Online Gamers talked about in their review. This game shows the Bat is better than Spidey but it will still hold up.
Overall get this game if you wanna and don't if you don't. The Amazing Spider Man is more of like The Decent Spider-Man.

Critics Consensus: Diablo III

Hi! We are Critics Consensus. We post the regular critics opinion for video games and movies! Today it is Diablo III the biggest release of the month and one of the year. Since this is a giant release we are going to have a giant post.

Graphics:
Diablo wasn't really known for it's graphics and same here. The graphics in Diablo are those of a regular game though some of the opening cutscenes look very good and realistic. Diablo is known for gameplay not graphics and that's where we go next.
Gameplay:
Diablo III has multiplayer and single player. So there's an impressive amount of content. The gameplay itself is fun and addicting but the game is very short. You are probably going to be playing online and that is the impressive feat of the game.
Other: (Sound,Plot,etc.)
Diablo III does not have an impressive story and the story is kinda linear. The sound sounds professional though.
Overall if you want to get Diablo III get it but it is not the giant improvement that the series could've gotten. So if you aren't looking for a giant improvement you should get this.
  

Critics Consensus: Prototype 2

Hi! We are Critics Consensus. We post the regular critics opinion for video games and movies! Today it is Prototype 2 the sequel to the 2009 Activison game Prototype.

 Prototype 2 has gotten mostly positive reviews because it is a fun game, has a good storyline, has interesting characters and it's better than the first game in the series. The plot is different from the first game and that is a good thing even though the game has a few forgettable moments.
Overall if you are into action\adventure games or the Prototype series, you should get this. Though you may forget some of the scenes from the game a few years later.
