Critics Consensus:Wolfenstein:The New Order

Hi! We are Critics Consensus.  We post the regular critics opinion for video games and movies! Today it is the new game in the Wolfenstein franchise!!
Wolfenstein created the first person shooter. Ya some simple retro game about shooting Nazi's in the face paved the way for Call Of Duty,Battlefield,Medal Of Honor and more. So now it's back after it's 2010 reboot. Let's see how it is shall we?
Wolfenstein:The New Order has a 79 on Metacritic and for being a game that's just simply about shooting Nazi's in the face, it's gotten some mixed reviews. VideoGamer.com said that the tone was all over the place while Polygon,Gaming Trend, and IGN praised the varied gunplay and gun custimazation. However The Escapist commented on the boring plain maps but Game Revolution went on about the voice acting. Ya it's pretty varied. Our advice
Only get this game if you want to.
Wolfenstein The New Order is rated M.

Critics Consensus:Titanfall Expedition

Hi! We are Critics Consensus.  We post the regular critics opinion for video games and movies! Today it is the all new Titanfall DLC!!
We're still relaxing from the hype and shock factor of Titanfall. Being one of the best mech games of all time and the best first person shooter in who knows how long it would be good to have some well deserving DLC. Right?
Sadly Titanfall Expedition is a mixed bag. It's got a high asking price for only three maps, and one of them isnt even that great. Even Official Xbox Magazine,MetroGameCentral, and Eurogamer said that it was only for people who still want that Titanfall temptation. Titanfalls back ladies and gentlemen but sadly you might want to wait till this one goes on sale.
Overall only get this game if you want to.

Critics Consensus:Borderlands 2 (PSVita)

Hi! We are Critics Consensus.  We post the regular critics opinion for video games and movies! Today it is the all new Vita port of Borderlands 2!!
Borderlands 2 is back in black. Ok maybe that wasn't the best intro but you get the jist. Borderlands 2 is coming to Vita. That's kind of weird considering the Vita is considered a dead console by many gamers and 2K will support the Vita but not the WiiU must mean something. Let's see what.
According to critics the Vita port of Borderlands 2 isn't all we claimed for. Maybe its because its made by a different company or the choppy frame rate but even critics such as GamesRadar,IGN,and The Escapist gave this one the thumbs down. Sometimes a game just doesn't fit a certain platform and sadly it appears this is the case with Borderlands 2.
Overall do not get this game.
Borderlands 2 is rated M.

Critics Consensus:Bioshock Infinite:Burial At Sea;Episode 2

Hi! We are Critics Consensus.  We post the regular critics opinion for video games and movies! Today it is the finale to Bioshock Infinite!
Bioshock Infinite has had a lot of rough turns. It sells amazing but then takes 8 months to get DLC out. The DLC gets mixed reviews for being short and then shortly after Irrational Games closes. Than the final episode of Burial At Sea is released. Lets see if it's better than the first one because in this one you get to play as Elizabeth!
Burial At Sea Pt2 is substantially higher than Burial At Sea Pt1 on Metacritic all for the right reasons. It's got wonderful level design, enjoyable gameplay, great graphics, art design, and sound design. Pretty much everything a Bioshock fan could ask for. Except with Irrational closing and all that critics like GameTrailers,IGN, and God Is A Geek say that this  is the biggest surprise we've had from Bioshock for a while.
Overall get this DLC.
Burial At Sea Part 2 is rated M.

Critics Consensus:Titanfall

Hi! We are Critics Consensus.  We post the regular critics opinion for video games and movies! Today it is the all new acclaimed FPS from E3 that blew us away, Titanfall!
It's easy to say that last year's E3 was one of the best ever except for the no-show appearance from Nintendo. There were surprise announcements like the new Star Wars Battlefront,Mirrors Edge 2,Kingdom Hearts 3, but the biggest one of them all was Titanfall a supposed to be COD killer. Titanfall introduces you to parkour, mechs, and everything in between. However there has been lots of controversy over the 1080p and only 12 players in a match. Let's find out if Titanfall is really all it's claimed to be or just another stinker in the dust.
Wow. It looks like unsurprisingly Titanfall is the killer app for the Xbox One. It's fast paced and frantic in the best ways and reinvents the first person shooter genre. Surprisingly the Titans aren't overpowered and it's easy to get kills in between not having one of them. EGM praised it for being established in the best way and Game Informer said it was the most entertaining first person shooter in years.  Wow Microsoft. You really pulled a rabbit out of the hat here.
Overall get this game. Even get an Xbox One for it.

One Of The Worst:Rambo:The Videogame

Hi! We are Critics Consensus.  We post the regular critics opinion for video games and movies! Today it is Rambo:The Worst Videogame Of 2014.
It's another One Of The Worst ladies and gentlemen where I talk about an atrocious thing that has just come out. And what better way to start the first One Of The Worst in 2014 by talking about a god-awful licensed game. Let's see why
  • The graphics are reminiscent of a Wii game and that's a compliment
  • The game is an onrails shooter which means you can move, you can only shoot
  • It's made by a publisher that only does shovelware
  • The game isn't really based off of any scenes of the movies even though it says it on the back of the box
  • The music is used in the same level over and over again
  • The difficulty spikes up for no reason
  • Character models wouldn't be acceptable 5 years ago
  • The game uses quicktime events instead of actual gameplay
  • The game rips off elements from Gears Of War
And thats why. Keep in mind those pieces of evidence are from critics such as AngryJoeShow,Videogamer.com,Inside Gaming,Nerdcubed and more. Goddamn this is an awful game.
Overall it's obvious not to get this game.

Critics Consensus:Bioshock Infinite:Burial At Sea:Episode One

Hi! We are Critics Consensus.  We post the regular critics opinion for video games and movies! Today it is the first piece of the long-awaited Bioshock Infinite DLC!!
After the amazing hit that was Bioshock Infinite Irrational Games has struggled to find it's footing. No DLC for the fifteen dollar Season Pass came out until July and during that time it was only a horde mode. Now the long awaited first part of Bioshock Infinite DLC has come out and it's definitely a spectacle. A short one though.
Call critics mean and over-sensitive but Bioshock Infinite:Burial At Sea has not been getting good reviews mainly due to it being two hours or less. Now that's pretty short for a fifteen dollar piece of DLC and while it has gotten positive reception for making a pleasant return to Rapture from critics like Rev3Games and GameInformer, it's a pricey one at best and you will be wanting more.
Overall only get this game if you really want to relive Bioshock again.
Bioshock Infinite:Burial At Sea:Episode One is rated M.

Critics Consensus:Call Of Duty:Ghosts

Hi! We are Critics Consensus.  We post the regular critics opinion for video games and movies! Today it is the new Call Of Duty!
Call Of Duty Ghosts is not supposed to be an invigoration into the franchise due to Call Of Duty being the biggest friggin video game franchise in the world. However it's trying not to be a fresh skin of paint due to it starting a new miniseries. The Call Of Duty games have always been known for being ambitious. Let's see how this one is shall we?
Unlike Black Ops 2 which excelled in minor details Call Of Duty Ghosts tries to make many new modes, features, loadouts, accessories, and more. According to critics this new Call Of Duty's main complaint is how these new features actually do not affect the overall game. Besides the extinction mode which is a stinker (Cited:Rev3Games) Most of these things do little to affect the overall experience. It's probably why it got a 5\10 from Destructoid and a 74 on Metacritic. It's not a bad game and not certainly a horrific failure it's just the weakest entry in the Cod franchise due to it's weaknesses. Which are certainly strong in that regard. But if you are a regular COD fanboy this will probably do little to affect the hours you will have with this game.
Overall if you want to get this game really bad just get it now but if you want it a little bit wait for Black Friday.
Call Of Duty:Ghosts is rated M.

Critics Consensus:Battlefield 4

Hi! We are Critics Consensus.  We post the regular critics opinion for video games and movies! Today it is the new Battlefield!
Battlefield does amazing numbers every time it comes out because it's not only a Call Of Duty clone, it's a smart Call Of Duty clone. It has amazing graphics, story and stunning realism. Call Of Duty rarely catches that. But last years Medal Of Honor:Warfighter did not do well commercially and critically. Will Battlefield 4 do the same?
Yes it does and it does it again. Battlefield 4 is once again an excellent achievement from both DICE and Electronic Arts showcasing the talent behind their hands in which they are able to craft breathtaking visual experiences every year. Just look at the reviews on this thing! 86 on Metacritic,"Gives Call Of Duty a run for it's money"-AusGamers,Battlefield 4 is more alive than ever-Gamereactor Sweden, and "Enjoy one of the best online games out there". Now thats impressive.
Overall get this game.

(One Of The) Worst:Day One:Garry's Incident

Hi! We are Critics Consensus.  We post the regular critics opinion for video games and movies! Today it is possibly the worst game of the last decade. What a great way to start things off.

Normally I don't cover that many indie games unless they are total gems like Fez or an absolute stinker like Takedown:Red Sabre. But Day One:Garry's Incident is a special kind of game. A game nearly as bad as Ride To Hell:Retribution and possibly even worse. If you have ever heard of Daikatana Day One is pretty much that except with a few better textures.
The reason I covered this game is that it's not absolute trash and you should not play it it's that youtube TotalBiscuit's video was removed because he said that the game was atrocious in every standard. He made a deal for a review code with the developers and they said it was fine to publicize the game. They must have been coding blind because it's horrible and it's buggy, buggy and buggy. I might get suspended for false copyright but before that happens just laugh at this game but the developers are total assholes. This really shouldn't happen.
Overall just no
Day One:Garry's Incident is rated R.

One Of The Worst:Takedown: Red Sabre

Hi! We are Critics Consensus.  We post the regular critics opinion for video games and movies! Today it is the new tactical shooter Takedown:Red Sabre!
It's sad because Takedown:Red Sabre had a really cool game and it had a really good showing at PAX. However this is sad because the game had so much potential at the showings it was presented at and looked like another blockbuster FPS for 505 (They already have Payday and Sniper Elite) Unfortunately a cool name does not make everything good. Let's see some of the examples Takedown:Red Sabre fails in every way.
  • AI is nearly non-existent (only reacts to certain weapons)
  • Single player will randomly crash because of multiplayer server issues
  • The game does not shut down on it's own and you have to close it on Task Manager.
  • No tactical options as the E3 Demos promised
  • No proper options menu for PC players
  • Shooting is clunky
Cited:IGN,Gamespot,TotalBiscuit,3DJuegos
Overall do not buy this game.
Takedown:Red Sabre is rated M.

Critics Consensus:Killzone Mercenary

Note: Probably this generation's biggest release Grand Theft Auto 5 will be covered on Tuesday in a very lengthy post. Strangely no reviews have come out yet and I also want to focus on a big post for a big game.
Hi! We are Critics Consensus.  We post the regular critics opinion for video games and movies! Today it is the new portable Killzone!
Black Ops:Declassified was a bust. Resistance:Falling Skies was a dud. These were all upcoming shooters for the Playstation Vita based off of respectable franchises and ended up being crap. Killzone:Mercenary is one of the last of these. But will it follow the same bad track record that Playstation Vita FPS's have? Let's find out.
Killzone:Mercenary is not a masterpiece by any means but it certainly is better than the other games I mentioned in the last paragraph. Mercenary looks amazing,is fun as hell to play, and the multiplayer will keep you playing for months. Finally a must-buy for the Vita. (Cited:Playstation Universe,LaPS3,Digital Fix)
Overall get this game.
Killzone:Mercenary is rated M.

Critics Consensus:Payday 2

Hi! We are Critics Consensus. We post the regular critics opinion for video games and movies! Today it is the sequel to the hit Payday!
The original Payday:The Heist was a hit. Sure it was pretty buggy, did not have the best AI, and was kind of repetitive but it was a breath of fresh air from all the military shooters that came out in 2011. Well Overkill was happy with the results so they decided to go all out with a sequel.
Payday is one of those games were it's only fun with another player even if they screw up a bunch. The singleplayer in Payday is always nothing special as GameInformer said but the non-stop through the roof action definitely makes up for it. Also its insanely addictive as IGN said and comes with a lot more content.
Overall get  this game.
Payday 2 is rated M.

Critics Consensus: Metro:Last Light

Hi! We are Critics Consensus. We post the regular critics opinion for video games and movies! Today it is the long awaited Metro sequel!
When the original Metro came out it was a gamechanger (no pun intended). It was realistic, surreal and somewhat scary. Unfortunately it was not a hit with sales and THQ made the decision fans were hoping for. A sequel. Metro:Last Light barely saw the light of day due to the THQ bankruptcy issues and now it's out thanks to Dead Island Publisher Deep Silver. Who knew that we would thank Dead Island one day?
Anyway Metro:Last Light is getting extraordinary reviews. It currently holds an 82 on Metacritic with critics praising it's story, graphics, and of course gameplay. You will be able to see how many bullets you have in your own gun, instead of seeing with a little notification. It's also miraculously detailed as Joystiq and SmoshGames stated. This game deserves everything. Especially that it almost did not make it to store shelves.
Overall get this game.
Metro: Last Light is rated M.

Critics Consensus: Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon

Hi! We are Critics Consensus. We post the regular critics opinion for video games and movies! Today it is a new Far Cry 3 expansion that has to do with the 80's. Wha....
I REALLY HOPE you know what you are going into when you load up Far Cry 3:Blood Dragon. I do not expect you to be a total idiot and not know by the box art but if any of you guys bought The Walking Dead:Survival Instinct. Anyway it's an 80's party.
First of all Blood Dragon is funny and full of 80's nostalgia as Steve Zaragoza from Sourcefed said. The whole thing is an adventure and one crazy one to be exact. The gameplay is great as SmoshGames praised and the only thing that could not make Far Cry 3:Blood Dragon better than everything out there is the long annoying cutscenes that span many minutes.
Overall get this game.
Far Cry 3:Blood Dragon is rated M.

Critics Consensus:Dead Island:Riptide

Hi! We are Critics Consensus. We post the regular critics opinion for video games and movies! Today it is the sequel to Dead Island!

Dead Island was a cult classic for many reasons. It had a heartbreaking trailer. We later learned that the trailer had nothing to do with the game and the game was not heartfelt in any way. We also learned when it came out that it was an extremely buggy game. Though the decapitation aspects and co-op made it worth it.
Then Deep Silver released a trailer for Dead Island Riptide which was extremely sad and depressing and then they released the Zombie Bait Edition which was only for male gamers to masturbate too and that got cut and then it's released. Sourcefed gave it a DIE and said that it should have been DLC,Official Xbox Magazine complained about the broken visuals and how the game does not make any sense. and just to top it off the game is even more buggy than Dead Island. That just throws it in a bucket and labels it cow crap.
Overall do not get this game.
Dead Island Riptide is rated M.

Critics Consensus: Bioshock Infinite

Hi! We are Critics Consensus. We post the regular critics opinion for video games and movies! Today it is the big one the one and only,

This March has sucked. Tomb Raider was good, God Of War: Acension was same old, same new, and Gears Of War:Judgement was a disappointment. I can hear the sound of gamers praying that Bioshock Infinite will meet their expectations.
Bioshock Infinite does not meet your expectations. Instead it will pick your expectations up and throw a fire grenade into it and then cut it into pieces with a machete. Bioshock Infinite has become one of the highest rated games of all time. So you do not need to bring out your Game Of The Year's IGN,Spike,Kotaku and more. You can just say it in front of our face. Nothing, absolutely nothing, can beat Bioshock Infinite. In order to compete with it's absurdly fun gameplay (as praised by Revision3 Games) it's amazing ending (as said by Sourcefed's Buy Or Die) and it's attention to detail and racial and sexist terms at that time. Bioshock Infinite has won 20 10\10's. Now that is something special.
Overall you have to get this game. Now if you bought The Walking Dead:Survival Instinct instead well you are gonna meet my fist.
Bioshock Infinite is rated M.

Critics Consensus: The Walking Dead:Survival Instinct

Hi! We are Critics Consensus. We post the regular critics opinion for video games and movies! Today it is a new cashgrab. This explains why I hate Activision more than EA.
Back in January a leaked trailer for the Walking Dead Survival Instinct popped up. It made it look like crap. No proper aiming system, worst AI ever, and horrible graphics. We all thought that this would be the worst game of the year. Then Alien:Colonial Marines comes out and we're like: nothing can be worse than that. WE WERE WRONG.
The reason Aliens:Colonial Marines was not sent into the depths of the Underworld was that it had multiplayer. Not the best multiplayer but every little bit helps. The Walking Dead:Survival Instinct has no multiplayer and horrible graphics. Kotaku complained about that crusty compass in the left of your screen and how the game is broken in every way. Also Game Informer complained about the plot and repetitive gameplay.
Overall if you have this game use the disc as a frisbee.
The Walking Dead:Survival Instinct is rated M.

Critics Consensus: Crysis 3

Hi! We are Critics Consensus. We post the regular critics opinion for video games and movies! Today it is a new Crysis game.
Well Crysis 3 is out. While I'm happy to see the Crysis series go mainstream with it's 3rd installment similar to how Dead Space became popular when it's third installment came out. Crysis 3 is a technological standpoint of how games have improved with amazing graphics.
However similar to Dead Space 3, the title is not worth the hype.
Scott C. Jones from ReviewsOnTheRun complained about the plot and gameplay mechanics and criticizing the game's mechanics and how the defualt weapon is the bow and arrow. Also Videogamer complained about the boring story that does not make any sense for newcomers. Crysis 3 is OK... It's fun and the multiplayer is good but it has a giant change of pace in the series for the worst of it.
Overall only get this game if you want to.
Crysis 3 is rated M.

Critics Consensus: Aliens: Colonial Marines

Hi! We are Critics Consensus. We post the regular critics opinion for video games and movies! Today it is Aliens: Colonial Marines a new game based off the Aliens franchise by Gearbox the creators of Borderlands. Oooh.
Gearbox Software is an amazing company. However they have their faults. For instance taking on multiple projects at a time (Sambi De Amigo and Borderlands) and (Duke Nukem Forever, Borderlands-2). Well when you put a lot of focus on one game and not on the other it's kind of like school. You will get a bad grade.
50-Metacritic,40-Game Informer, 4.5-IGN,30-Eurogamer. I wish I was joking. This game is lower rated than Duke Nukem Forever. Yep I said it. The physics are horrible as SmoshGames presented in Nope Or Dope., 3DJuegos hated the repetitive gameplay, and Machinima said that it was the biggest disappointment of the year.
Overall do not get this game. The only redeeming quality is the OK Multiplayer.
Aliens:Colonial Marines is rated M.
