Critics Consensus:Watch_Dogs

Hi! We are Critics Consensus.  We post the regular critics opinion for video games and movies! Today it is Ubisoft's all new hacking IP Watch Dogs!!
Let's face it. E3 2012 was a bummer. No next gen console announcements, still very little information about the WiiU, and pretty much every game there was a sequel. And then Ubisoft had their conference and a wild Watch Dogs appeared which pretty much blew everyone's mind apart. And after 2 years it's finally out. Let's get into the good news and the bad about Watch Dogs.
OK so Watch Dogs isn't the big explosive epic that we saw at E3 although it does have it's moments. As Videogamer.com pointed out even key points in the trailer don't match with the final game. But let's cut to the chase now, is Watch Dogs a good game or not? Yes it has a 82 on Metacritic and despite from only getting 1 10\10 from a major publication it has been praised for it's unique and creative multiplayer modes, shooting mechanics, and great moments and setpieces. However the game has some dumb moments that even the parody show Clueless Gamer pointed out as everything is Chicago is connected by only one network.
Overall get this game.

Critics Consensus:Child Of Light

Hi! We are Critics Consensus.  We post the regular critics opinion for video games and movies! Today it is Ubisofts all new platformer RPG Child Of Light!!!
One of the surprise announcements from Gamescom 2013 was Ubisoft's beautiful Child Of Light. Unlike the other game they announced Fighter Within, Child Of Light was looked on with great praise and hype even before it came out due to the team working on it (Ubisoft Montreal AKA the guys who made a bunch of great Ubisoft games such as Assassin's Creed,Splinter Cell, and Watch Dogs) Let's see if the talent and the hype is really brimming in the right places.
Apparently Child Of Light is a miniature indie masterpiece. Dacotah Reviews praised it for it's welcoming to newcomers gameplay as it is not a turn based RPG or a real time one, (which sounds confusing if you ask me) IGN for the visual display and breathtaking artwork, and The Digital Fix for it's great lengthy amounts of content. Unfortunately the game has somewhat of an annoying plot as everything is a tongue twister and rhymes, but you kind of have to expect that when you're playing a game crafted like a fairy tale. And getting acclaim like one too.
Overall get this game.
Child Of Light is rated E10+.

Critics Consensus:Trials Fusion

Hi! We are Critics Consensus.  We post the regular critics opinion for video games and movies! Today it is the next Trials game!
In 2009 an aspiring indie studio released an XBLA version of one of their flash games. The game ended up being one of the best selling XBLA and downloadable games to date so what other way to release a sequel? That sequel ended up being Trials Evolution which was praised for it's fantastic level editor which could let you make (im not joking) first person shooters and platformers in a motorcycle game. This time Trials is back and it's set in the future. Let's see if it seems like they are running out of ideas here.
Apparently RedLynx isn't. Yes Trials Fusion tries to assemble a plot unlike the other games and do to it's poor results of that it was one of the reasons AusGamers gave it a 5\10. However nearly all of the reviews have been positive praising its graphics, challenges, new improvements, and humour something that is rarely present in games these days.
Overall get this game.
Trials Fusion is rated E10+.

Critics Consensus:South Park:The Stick Of Truth

Hi! We are Critics Consensus.  We post the regular critics opinion for video games and movies! Today it is the all new long awaited South Park RPG!
It's obvious to say the road for South Park:The Stick Of Truth has been a pretty bumpy ride. The game was announced back in December 2011 and was supposed to come out sometime during 2012. Then it was delayed and delayed and delayed one more time and then it was ready for release. However that never happened because THQ the publisher of the game was in financial distress. So the rights were sold to Ubisoft and then the game got a release date. And then it was delayed AGAIN because Ubisoft wanted Obsidian to overhaul some of the mechanics to make it be better. Well all of that actually worked as this is the highest rated South Park game of all time and the highest rated TV show based game too.
While the game has framerate and save bugs due to it being on last-gen consoles its easy to say that South Park:The Stick Of Truth is a contender for Game Of The Year. The mechanics are slick, the town is fun to explore and the game contains so many references its even hard for a South Park aficionado to find them all.
And if you dont trust me you could trust GameInformer,IGN, The Globe And Mail or USA Today for praising this game for all those reasons.
Overall get this game.
South Park:The Stick Of Truth is rated M. (obviously)

Critics Consensus:Assassin's Creed Liberation HD

Hi! We are Critics Consensus.  We post the regular critics opinion for video games and movies! Today it is the remake of the acclaimed Vita game!
Assassin's Creed Liberation HD was a game that released two years ago set to bundle up the events of Assassins Creed 3 in a bow and boost Playstation Vita sales. The game was breathtaking and gorgeous with vast open worlds on the small screen. However since noone bought a Vita Ubisoft needs to their recoup their losses and what better than to release a digital HD (well not really) version?
Turns out it wasn't such a good idea in the first place. The game feels like it's slapped on at other consoles and has received no positive reviews because of this. It doesn't fix the problems the Vita version had either and looks like crap compared to other spectacular HD collections. IGN even gave it a 5. What can we say? Critics miss the naval combat.
Overall do not get this game.
Assassins Creed Liberation HD is rated M.

Critics Consensus:Assassins Creed 4:Black Flag-Freedom Cry

Hi! We are Critics Consensus.  We post the regular critics opinion for video games and movies! Today the new Assassins Creed DLC!
Last time Ubisoft delved deep into the DLC universe of Assassin's Creed it made The Tyranny Of George Washington for Assassins Creed 3. That was a weird one. The episodes were received mostly positive for their cool powers and gameplay but their were a lot of criticisms over the bonkers story and wonky AI. Now Ubisoft is dealing with DLC using an all new character. Let's see how this is.
As stated by Destructoid this is definitely better than the George Washington DLC by having a polished engine and world, a cool story, and interesting characters. Unfortunately it's a little bit dry for it's own good and seems small with little ideas or concepts too improve on. We can only find out till Episode 2 but right now
A)Buy this if you want to
B) Don't if you don't
It's just that simple.
Freedom Cry is rated M.

One Of the Worst:Fighter Within

Hi! We are Critics Consensus.  We post the regular critics opinion for video games and movies! Today it is the all new Ubisoft Kinect fighter Fighter Within!!
Back when motion-control peripherals were the hottest thing with the all new Wii,Kinect and Playstation Move (Anyone remember that?) Usually third-party developers show the new technology with a new fighter. For the Wii it was Red Steel, for the Kinect it was Fighters:Uncaged and for the PSMove it was Fight Night:Lights Out. Well they were all crap and made by Ubisoft. (Except for the PSMove one) Not having good feelings about this one.
Fighter Within is an absolute mess of a game. The motion detection surprisingly works which should be the bright spot but the game is lackluster,AI is iffy, and the single player is a lie (virtually non-existent) This game is nowhere in the region of a price point of 60 dollars much less twenty. Fighter Within will be in the bargain bin in a few years and that's where it deserves. (Cited:GamesRadar,SpazioGames,Destructoid)
Overall do not get this game.
Fighter Within is rated T.

Critics Consensus:Assassin's Creed 4:Black Flag

Hi! We are Critics Consensus.  We post the regular critics opinion for video games and movies! Today it is the new Assassin's Creed!
Assassin's Creed is one of the world's biggest video game franchises to date and boy it took a lot of luck. The first Assassin's Creed came out back in 2007. It was nothing special and was a sleeper hit. But it sold well and it got a sequel. One more game was made until Assassin's Creed turned into an annual franchise with a different setting and time period each game. Now Assassin's Creed is a behemoth from it's spectacular writing, intense action and immense open-worlds to explore. Let's hope Black Flag delivers just that.
As said by many critics like IGN,Vandal Online, and Game Trailers Black Flag is a fantastic game. It realized it's mistakes from the ambitious misstep that was Assassin's Creed 3 and now it's back and better than ever. GRYonline called it the Red Dead Redemption for the pirate genre and the writing is top-notch and not slow-paced like Assassin's Creed 3. A step in the right direction I must say.
Overall get this game.
Assassin's Creed 4:Black Flag is rated M.

Critics Consensus:Rayman Legends

Hi! We are Critics Consensus. We post the regular critics opinion for video games and movies! Today it is the new Rayman!

Rayman Origins was a success in many ways and is even known as one of the best platformers of all time. Unfortunately it did not do to well in sales but for some reason Ubisoft is making another one. Oh Ubisoft I can't stay mad at you. Even though i'm still waiting for Beyond Good And Evil 2.
Rayman Legends is near perfect according to many critics such as VideoGamerTV, Cubed3, and Gaming Trend. It's not the amazement that Origins was and they have scaled down the difficulty a little bit but the game is some of the best platformer co-op in generations and it looks beautiful. Also people are saying that this is becoming the next Mario and you can't get beat with the new Kung Foot mode.
Overall get this game now.
Rayman Legends is rated E10+.

One Of The Worst:Flashback

Hi! We are Critics Consensus. We post the regular critics opinion for video games and movies! Today it is the new HD remake of Flashback!
Flashback was a hit back in the 90's with it's revolutionary gameplay similar to Out Of This World and now in order to celebrate the anniversary Ubisoft is doing homage to Flashback with an HD remake (Spoiler Alert:It's not that good.)
The biggest reason that Flashback is crap is all in GameInformer's review in which they gave it a 3.0. Flashback has many many bugs and wonky controls all which disrupt the gameplay from it's full potential which is sad considering that Flashback will never be touched on again and only has this crappy arcade game to take care of it.
Overall don't play this game.
Flashback is rated T.

Critics Consensus: Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell:Blacklist

Hi! We are Critics Consensus. We post the regular critics opinion for video games and movies! Today it is the new Splinter Cell game!
A lot of franchise reboots have come out recently. Syndicate,Tomb Raider,Sim City,Dmc Devil May Cry,and Hitman:Absolution. Some have flopped and some have succeeded  However most of those games besides DMC have been ripped on because they tried to get the game to a broader audience. That's exactly what's happening to Blacklist. Let's just hope too much does not get to it.
If too ambitious is a thing Blacklist achieves just that. The story is generic and the new Sam Fisher voice actor is downright obnoxious as VideoGamerTV stated. Not all is bad as the multiplayer modes are one hell of a blast with the exception of the non-existent co-op on the WiiU. Ubisoft tried to make it appeal to all audiences and if you are fine with that you should go purchase Blacklist right now. However if you are a hardcore Splinter Cell fan you should get this only for the multiplayer.
Splinter Cell Blacklist is rated M.

Critics Consensus: Cloudberry Kingdom

Hi! We are Critics Consensus. We post the regular critics opinion for video games and movies! Today it is a new indie platformer Cloudberry Kingdom!
Last year a little game came out called Spelunky that was insanely hard and some of the best fun I've had with friends. Personally it was my favorite game of 2012 and I am still playing it to this day. Now there's a new game called Cloudberry Kingdom which is really similar to Spelunky (randomly generated levels, local co-op) and well let's see what the critics think.
Cloudberry Kingdom might turn you off because of it's name (pretty poor name) and it looks like a Flash game as VideoGamerTV said. Unfortunately Cloudberry Kingdom is fun but does not have the best batch of content and will get old after awhile.(Citied:Nowgamer) But if you have a lot of friends over and can spend ten dollars to throw away, this will be a good couple of hours.
Overall only get this game if you're having a party or a couple of friends over. Hopefully they won't be turned off by the atrocious name.
Cloudberry Kingdom is rated T.

Critics Consensus:Call Of Juarez:Gunslinger

Hi! We are Critics Consensus. We post the regular critics opinion for video games and movies! Today it is the Call Of Juarez reboot!
Call Of Juarez was a widely respected franchise until 2011. That's when Call Of Juarez:The Cartel came out. It was a Call Of Duty knock off with stupid AI and dated gameplay. Well Ubisoft wants to forget that and redo it with Gunslinger.
This game has major changes compared to old Call Of Juarez games. It's a western and is super over-the-top. Though over-the-top can be positive as seen with the Saints Row franchise. But Gaming Age likes over-the-top,same with Toronto Sun and Digital Spy.
Overall you should like over-the-top.
Call Of Juarez:Gunslinger is rated M.

Critics Consensus: Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon

Hi! We are Critics Consensus. We post the regular critics opinion for video games and movies! Today it is a new Far Cry 3 expansion that has to do with the 80's. Wha....
I REALLY HOPE you know what you are going into when you load up Far Cry 3:Blood Dragon. I do not expect you to be a total idiot and not know by the box art but if any of you guys bought The Walking Dead:Survival Instinct. Anyway it's an 80's party.
First of all Blood Dragon is funny and full of 80's nostalgia as Steve Zaragoza from Sourcefed said. The whole thing is an adventure and one crazy one to be exact. The gameplay is great as SmoshGames praised and the only thing that could not make Far Cry 3:Blood Dragon better than everything out there is the long annoying cutscenes that span many minutes.
Overall get this game.
Far Cry 3:Blood Dragon is rated M.

Critics Consensus: Assassin's Creed 3: The Tyranny Of George Washington-Infamy

Hi! We are Critics Consensus. We post the regular critics opinion for video games and movies! Today it is Assassin's Creed DLC.
Assassin's Creed 3 was not a bad game but just a disappointment. You could not play as Connor until 11 hours in! Nerd Rage. Anyway Assassin's Creed 3: Liberation was also a disappointment. And then they announce Assassin's Creed 3 DLC. Please don't screw it up Ubisoft please don't- (Looks at Metacritic Score) GOD DA-
Console Monster said that the plot did not make any sense and was too minimal to the gameplay, and Eurogamer complained about how there was no vast open world and little AI like birds and bears. It's fun and  stuff I guess just only for a fan.
Overall only get this game if you wanna.

Critics Consensus: Far Cry 3

Hi! We are Critics Consensus. We post the regular critics opinion for video games and movies! Today it is Far Cry 3 the newest Far Cry.
Graphics:
Eurogamer praised the amazing landscapes of the island that is the main setting of the game,Eurogamer Sweden said something similar saying that the island was beautiful and lastly Meristation sampled the great frame rate.
Gameplay:
Giant Bomb gave it five stars out of five stars exclaiming that it was the most fun they have had in an open world game for ages,Telegraph said that the vast and immense island was the best thing about the game and Smosh Games praised all the different ways to kill enemies  There is seriously like 100 of those.
Other (Plot,Sound)
The bad thing about Far Cry 3 is the boring story. Yes Vaas is an interesting villain but the game's story could be better as Telegraph, Cheat Code Central, and MondoXbox stated.
Overall:
It would be stupid not to get this game. Juss saying.
Trailer:
Far Cry 3 is rated M.

Critics Consensus: ZombiU

Hi! We are Critics Consensus. We post the regular critics opinion for video games and movies! Today it is ZombiU the new survival horror game for the Wii U.
Most launch titles coming out for the Wii U are purely unoriginal. Most are ports or sequels or ripoffs. ZombiU is something different. In ZombiU you make a character. Let's say I make a character named Quincy Higgins. Once he dies he will be in the universe of a different player trying to kill them. In fact ReviewsOnTheRun's Scott C Jones praised that of the game and said that it was addictive. However The Toronto Globe And Mail complanied that when you start your first few characters there really is not that many weapons to choose from and EGM said that it had too much unclear instructions.
Overall only get this game if you want to.

Critics Consensus: Assassins Creed III:Liberation

Hi! We are Critics Consensus. We post the regular critics opinion for video games and movies! Today it is the port of Assassins Creed II on the Playstation Vita.
Assassins Creed III delivered perfectly. Assassins Creed III:Liberation however kinda fails to deliver. For example,MetroGameCentral said that there were many technical issues, and sloppy design and Gameblog.fr said that there was a lack of polish. It is still fun though and may be the reason to buy a Playstation Vita even though Assassins Creed III is far more superior. IGN did say that the addition of a female assassin was used well.
Overall only get this game if you want to.
Assassin's Creed III: Liberation is rated M.

Critics Consensus: Assassin's Creed III

Hi! We are Critics Consensus. We post the regular critics opinion for video games and movies! Today it is Assassins Creed III. I know you are excited as I am.
Graphics:
Hardcore Gamer Magazine called the game beautiful, 4Players.De praised the games elegant vistas and mountians and lastly VideoGamer also called the game beautiful as many other critics did. The graphics are up to par with the best in the industry right now.
Gameplay:
SourceFed's Meg Turney said that the game was glitchy sometimes like for instance petting air instead of a dog and characters getting stuck in the ground (Skyrim anyone?) but still said that the parkour scenes made up for it.The Escapist praised the nimble combat and lastly EuroGamer Italy praised the new mechanics. The gameplay is pitch perfect in this game. It should be.
Other (Sound,Plot):
Gametrailers said that the story started a little slow but then got amazingly gripping and intense. Spaziogames also praised a certain character and they said it was the best game in the franchise because of that character. That's saying a lot.
Overall:
It's pretty obvious which game you should get this week. You are staring the box art. Go buy it right now.
Trailer:
Assassin's Creed III is rated M.

Critics Consensus: Babel Rising

Hi! We are Critics Consensus. We post the regular daily critics opinion for the newest video games and movies! Today it is Babel Rising a port of the iPhone game Babel Rising.
Well here's a funny joke that's not funny to Ubisoft. Ubisoft's Babel Rising is more of like Babel Falling to critics. Literally. The highest score was a 62 from 3DJeugos. Ouch. Destructiod complained about bare-bones gameplay and OXM (Official Xbox Magazine) complained the Kinect controls were fussy. At least it has interesting mechanics like AusGamers said. That's right that's what the only good thing about this game was. Interesting Mechanics!
Overall skip this one. If you really want it buy the demo. That way you will not waste money.

Babel Rising is rated E10+.
