In the last couple of years we've seen a spike in black comedy films. No not black comedy like dark humor,black comedy like actual black comedians. The most notable one being Kevin Hart for example. Well hes back again in the all new Think Like A Man Too. Let's see how it us shall we?
Not surprisingly Think Like A Man Too has all the worst mistakes in all the worst places. It's got a 22% on RottenTomatoes, an average score of 4.6,a 37 on Metacritic,and has some preferably bad statements from critics. Such as "this movie will detach your corneas" from RichardRoeper "everything about the film smacks up laziness from RogerEbert.com and "straight up obnoxious" from Blu-ray.com.

21 Jump Street hit everyone by surprise. It was a reboot of an old 90's TV show that never really did well but took it to a whole new level with a great cast, hilarious and sometimes gross moments,and shaping Chaning Tatum's career for the better. Now they're back. And in college.
While 22 Jump Street doesn't really offer anything new or innovative sequel wise it's still just as funny or funnier as it used too. The new college aspect kicks up the notch to Round 10 and the scenarios are endless with Jonah Hill and Chaning Tatum taking risks and challenges like never before and thankfully critics are loving this one too with 37 positive reviews, a 71 on Metacritic, and 83% and Certified Fresh on RottenTomatoes. OK just go and run and see this one now!

Let's be honest here. There hasn't been a good Spider Man movie in a while. Spider Man 3 was known as a disaster for being so overly convoluted and messy and The Amazing Spider Man while being better did little to rocket the franchises into new heights as Spider Man 1 and 2 did. So now The Amazing Spider Man 2 is out featuring a cast of new villains including Electro,The Green Goblin,Vulture,Dr Octopus, the list goes on and on. But the real question is Is it any good? Lets find out.
Well that just plain hurts. The Amazing Spider Man 2 has a 53 on Metacritic and a 55% on RottenTomatoes. That makes it just nearly as bad as Spider Man 3 which isn't a good sign in the slightest. Critics like The Atlantic,Denver Post, and The Wrap complained about how the movie was exhausting and didn't really feel like the big finale it should have been. Other critics like Film.com and The Guardian praised the new cast of characters. So with mixed reviews on this it's pretty obvious if you should see The Amazing Spider Man 2 or not.

Pompeii is set to be the big budget setpiece about a historical travesty for Sony and they are betting on it to be the next big blockbuster. However Pompeii is coming out in February typically not a good time critically or commercially so let's see how it is! (Spoiler Alert: It's Crap)
While Pompeii isn't that bad you actually want to take place in Pompeii itself its a rather poor and lazy attempt at a movie due to it's low-name non-famous worse than generic acting as said by the Chicago Reader and Globe And Mail, it's unlikeable characters that make you want to root for the volcano and it's really really cheesy and not well thought out dialogue as stated by Creative Loafing. Oh well. Noone expected this movie to be good anyway.

Hey! So this is kind of a last minute thing here. I realized how many Valentines Days movies come out this week so I've decided to cover them all in a quick post and say which ones are worth your time. (if any)
Date & Switch:
The first one is Date & Switch a movie about virgins trying to "score" before prom and then one of them says he's gay. Obviously this isn't your typical Valentines Day movie and this one's only a limited release so let's check if it's actually a movie you should drive a little while to see. Turns out nope.This movie has gotten some positive reviews but mostly it's gotten not so shining ones because of it's uneven pacing,dated script and subject material, and overall somewhat pointless. There is some good aspects though but it's not that spread out in the film and mostly is lacking. Overall no.
Winters Tale:
Winter's Tale is the somewhat Cinderella generic story about some crappy love that spans a century or something. It's a last ditch effort by Warner Bros to get some money this Valentines Day and after the explosion of awesomeness that was The Lego Movie we expect better from them. It's a made for TV movie scrapped together and paper thin and that explains why it's gotten no positive reviews and a 14% on Rotten Tomatoes. Ouch.
Endless Love:
The next one is some Romeo & Juliet type love story with the exact same score as Winter's Tale on Metacritic and Rotten Tomatoes. You've got to be kidding me. Im done with this film. It's obvious I don't need to explain any more.
About Last Night:
Finally how long did it take to get to a somewhat decent Valentines movie? About Last Night may turn you off because the commercials feature people having sex in a chicken costume and getting caught and it also has Kevin Hart (who starred in the not so fantastic Ride Along). Believe it or not it's actually a decent romp with funny jokes that will leave you happy this Valentines Day. Or whenever this is being published.
Overall according to critics like Globe and Mail,Entertainment Weekly,Rolling Stone, and Village Voice who have pretty good opinions the only one is About Last Night. Other are pretty crap.

It's the Hollywood's totally running out of ideas and has to make a reboot of an ancient 80's movie version of Critics Consensus. And this time we have the all new Robocop. Don't get me wrong this one actually has some potential but if it's anything we know about Robocop it's usually supposed to maintain a R rating due to it's grit and violence. But this time it's PG-13. And Hollywood screws things up yet again.
Ok maybe I overreacted there because of pure nostalgia but as we expected Robocop isn't an amazing film. It's not crap like Total Recall was but it's pretty weak and doesn't contain really any Robocop action with a crappy opening to tie things in a smelly effortless bow. Fortunately the last 30 so minutes is amazing according to ReviewsOnTheRun, San Francisco Chronicle, and Tampa Bay Times it's just that this movie could have used a little bit more time on the drawing board before being thrown out there.

World War 2 films are always the centrifuge of amazing spectacularity in film whether it be the amazing set pieces, heartbreaking scripts, or deep true acting there's always an intense enriching experience. However a new movie out called The Monuments Men puts a new spin on World War 2. A platoon has to save the paintings,artifacts,sculptures and of course monuments from being blown out before the Nazi's come. But this isn't a regular platoon. This is a platoon starring George Clooney,Matt Damon,Kate Blanchett,Bill Murray and much more.
However all those accomplished and superficial actors don't actually go together to make a great film. ReviewsOnTheRun complained about the premise of the film and making the film feel uncomfortable with not only a harsh story (Human lives are more important than art) but being strung together by cliches such as Kate Blanchett being the French femme-fatale. It's clear that The Monuments Men is nothing special and a 33% on RottenTomatoes and a 52 on Metacritic do not lie.
Overall do not see this movie. It is clearly a waste of time.

It's that time of year again and if you don't know what time of year I'm talking about I'm talking about not just the holidays but the holiday movie extravaganza. Last year we had Skyfall,Les Miserables, and Zero Dark Thirty. This year we have already have had Gravity,Captain Phillips and All Is Lost just to name a few. Now there's a new crime drama with the amazing (and hot) Jennifer Lawrence and it's not just exciting for that reason. Let's see what all the buzz around American Hustle is all about. American Hustle is a masterpiece for many reasons and that's one of the reason's it's a masterpiece. It's gotten 9 perfect scores on Metacritic and just to boast with that is also mesmerizing and structured like a piece of the thriller Goodfellas. American Hustle brings proof that movies are back at it again with a little oomph to use that as proof. Overall see this movie now. Just buy a ticket. Everyone involved with this movie deserves the money. American Hustle is rated R.

Stephen King is probably most known for his book Carrie which was actually made into a movie in the 80's. Well that movie has grown some mold and now a new Carrie is out. Let's check if it's any good.
Carrie boasts some intelligent and well deserving actors as RogerEbert.com said it isn't exactly pure gold. The actors are placed in awkward roles and the movie spends half of it's time trying to figure out what to do instead of actually trying it. Carrie is not a mess it just could be better and is overall a disappointment.

When Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs and Despicable Me came out in 2010 they were clearly respectable movies that showed how Sony Pictures Animation was trying to be the next PIXAR. 1. They can't because they have a generic name but whatever. Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs was a box office smash and with any movie close to that margin of money gets a sequel! How suprising.
Thankfully Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs 2 is not the fly in the soup most critics and moviegoers expected it to be as it has a 58 on Metacritic as well on RottenTomatoes. It's not a fantastic movie by any means but it certainly is not going to leave a bad taste in your mouth. It's funny and certainly to give some laughs for the kids.

It's sad that in order to introduce things to kids that were in the 80's,90's or 70's they have to do this. Make one of the worst movies imaginable and is only watchable if you are younger than 9. It's just an incoherent mess disguised as a cashgrab and even San Francisco Chronicle said that there was so much torture and suffering it was Zero Dark Smurffy. And yep. They have planned a Smurfs 3 and 4. I'm ready to quit life right now.
Overall just lowest of the low. Bottom of the barrel.

In 2011, Woody Allen hit it big with Midnight In Paris. In 2012 he made To Rome With Love a spiritual successor of sorts. But in 2013 he changed it after To Rome With Love was not a critical darling. Instead Blue Jasmine is a comedy drama. Will it be a turn of events for Allen? Blue Jasmine is looking to be a critical darling. Thankfully Blue Jasmine hits all the right notes. The performance from Cate Blanchett is amazing and even made the Wall Street Journal give the movie a 10\10 and USA Today called it one of Allen's best films in years. Good day to be a Woody Allen fan. Overall see this movie. Blue Jasmine is rated PG-13.

White House Down is under a lot of scrutiny due to it being the exact same (or close to it as Olympus Has Fallen) but now that the reviews have come in, White House Down has a lot more depth than I realized. Because of one thing. It does not take itself seriously.
Chaning Tatum and Jamie Foxx have actual comedic chemistry as the San Francisco Chronicle said. It's gonna be a fun movie like ReviewsOnTheRun stated but the only problem is that it's choppily edited. But hey it might be fun with your friends.

This Is The End has had an amazing promotion adventure. They were selling tickets with free "munchies" on 420 day and the commercials made the movie look hilarious. However with horrible comedies like Grownups overcrowding the market will This Is The End become one of those? Surprisingly not. An 68 on Metacritic with an 86% to wrap it all in a fine pink little bow, This Is The End is one of the funniest movies this year. Even Rolling Stone said that you will think you are hallucinating that it is that good. Overall see this movie This Is The End is one of the best comedies of the year. Go see it. This Is The End is rated R.

You wanna know what's funny? M Night Shyamalan's new movie looked promising. Too bad it's just Will Smith's son Jaden Smith running around from weird mutant creatures in action set pieces. I'm spoiling the movie for you because it's just that bad. That's all your seeing for two hours as Jeremy Jahns stated. It's really boring after twenty minutes. It's just a giant Vine but slightly different. If you don't trust me. Read Film.coms review. Overall After Earth is a movie about a destroyed Earth. This is one of the things that destroyed it. After Earth is rated PG-13.

When a movie is produced by Happy Madison Productions you know it is not going to be very good. Here Comes The Boom falls right into that category. Minneapolis Star Tribune complained about the weak humor,Detroit News was not a fan of the cliches,St.Louis Dispatch called it loud,incoherent and unfunny and lastly Slant Magazine gave it a 0 out of 10. Overall please do not see this movie unless you are some 9-12 year old kid who think that anything that is touched by Adam Sandler is gold. Here Comes The Boom is rated PG.

When it gets close to Halloween there is always a Halloween themed movie. It could be a SAW movie or a Chucky movie but rarely a kids movie. Halloween related kids movies have really mediocore track records for example Igor, Hocus Pocus, and The Goonies. Well you can add one to the list. Hotel Transylvania will probably be fun for the whole family but as an actual movie the underdeveloped story and jokes you can see coming from a mile away take all the fun away unless you are a little kid which The New Orleans Times said. Chigaco Tribune also complained about Adam Sanders crappy voice acting for Dracula and lastly Portland Oregonian said the only funny scenes in the movie were from Steve Buscemi. Overall only see this movie if you have kids. Hotel Transylvania is rated PG.

Plot\Writing: Tampa Bay Times praised the way Looper puzzle engages your brain with it's satisfying script. Christian Science Monitor loved the dialogue. The only problem with the plot is that it may mess with your brain cells as Ozus' World Movie Reviews stated but if it makes you think and be intrigued by the tension by the story-line it is worth it. Acting: The Hollywood Reporter praised the main stars in the movies acts such as Bruce Willis, Jospeh Gordon Levitt, and lastly Emily Blunt. Arizona Republic thought that Willis's perofrmance was better in Moonrise Kingdom but nevertheless and amazing performance. Lastly New York Daily News called Willis's performance on of his best. So Bruce Willis is definitely the best actor in this movie but the other actors performances are still amazing. Special Effects\Cinematography: Examiner.com praised the cinematography,but no other critics praised or even talked about the special effects as I looked so this will just be empty. Overall: Looper is a amazing movie and that's just about it. You should see it as much as you can. Looper is a complete masterpiece. Trailer:

There have not been a good number of great bicycle related movies recently or at all. Well good news. Now there is 3 good bicycle related movies. Premium Rush is about a delivery messenger that finds out he is carrying a bomb. The New York Post complained about the story line being congested. Since the storyline is pretty thin many critics were praising that with a simple storyline the film could be a bit gripping like The Wrap's Alonso Duralde said. So the plot is eh, character developments are good, and its fun. The only serious problem with Premium Rush is that it is overloaded with special effects like Rolling Stone exclaimed. Overall see this movie if you want to and if you do not give a hoot about it, another transportation movie game out called Hit and Run. Premium Rush is rated PG-13.
