Critics Consensus:Jersey Boys

Hi! We are Critics Consensus.  We post the regular critics opinion for video games and movies! Today it is the all new movie based off of some triumphant rock classics,Jersey Boys!!
Everyone knows it and their sick of it. It pretty much plagues America yet idiots with IQs less than hamsters love it. What am I talking about? Modern music. Whether it be bass drops set to the tune of Lil Wayne or songs that for 4 minutes only say the two words Booty Shake a lot of us want music back to the old days. So why don't we set tune to a movie that appreciates and praises that age? We can in the all new Jersey Boys but lets check if it's good first.
Like a beloved singer performing a concert with a voice crack the movie has some problems. Some critics like Movie City News,Movie Talk, and ScreenRant complained about the movie pretty much sung to the tune of the elderly demographic or how every 10 minutes a boring scene pops up like a cameo singer. Jersey Boys is acceptable to say the least. We just know that Warner Bros,Christopher Walken, and Clint Eastwood all could have put in the extra note.
Overall only see this movie if you want to.
Jersey Boys is rated R.

Critics Consensus:Edge Of Tommorow

Hi! We are Critics Consensus.  We post the regular critics opinion for video games and movies! Today it is the all new sci fi action thriller Edge Of Tomorrow.
Tom Cruise can't catch a break can he? I mean sure he's been in his fair share of terrible films but Edge Of Tomorrow has something special going for it. It has a Groundhog Day like ascetic all with an alien invasion synopsis. Ironically audiences aren't really seeing this movie because it looks too generic while the generic movies tend to be the one that crack big at the box office. Let's see why Edge Of Tomorrow was really robbed of it's #1 box office position.
1. It shows that Tom Cruise hasn't lost his character and is still making amazing movies -Chicago Sun Times
2.The plot is AMAZING-ReviewsOnTheRun
3.It's imaginative in every single damn way-Concrete Playground
OK you get the point. But wait theres more. Here's a couple more quotes to throw at you. "total blast" "endlessly entertaining" "badass and wise" "beats the clock"
Overall you HAVE to see this movie.
Edge Of Tomorrow is rated PG-13.

Critics Consensus:Godzilla

Hi! We are Critics Consensus.  We post the regular critics opinion for video games and movies! Today it is the all new Godzilla reboot!
Considering how big of a pop culture phenomenon Godzilla is it's surprising there hasn't been a wide release American movie for him for about 15 years. Why? That's because director of Independence Day and 2012 Roland Emmerich, decided to make his own Godzilla movie even though he hated Japanese culture. So it was obvious that the movie made the Godzilla franchise stay dormant for a long time. But now the king has awaken...
Godzilla has gotten some pretty good reviews and while it's not the amazing masterpiece fans wanted it to be it really can't. Because it's Godzilla. You can't make a Godfather quality movie with friggin Godzilla in it. Anyway off to the reviews. Besides for the couple of naysayers (Christian Science Monitor,New Yorker,TIME) most critics alike have praised Godzilla for it's intense action sequences, strong acting, and has been called as the best American Godzilla of all time. Which isn't really saying a lot but still
you should probably see this movie
Godzilla is rated PG-13.

Critics Consensus:Transcendence

Hi! We are Critics Consensus.  We post the regular critics opinion for video games and movies! Today it is the all new Transcendence in which humans go against machines!
While Transcendence's plot may sound generic as a vat of boring it actually has some discernible talent attached to it like Christopher Nolan,Johnny Depp,Morgan Freeman and Rebecca Hall. However all of that is destroyed as the film has a 20% on RottenTomatoes and a 44 on Metacritic. Let's see why this is such a colossal disappointment.
Apparently it's because Transcendence has a lazy script, boring acting, and a otherwise bland lack in direction. It's got some amazing visual effects but even that can't save this sucker of a movie. Too bad for the 100+ million dollar budget of this movie because something like this is probably gonna hurt it. Another hit in Johnny Depp's wallet.
Overall do not see this movie.
Transcendence is rated PG-13.

Critics Consensus:Veronica Mars

Hi! We are Critics Consensus.  We post the regular critics opinion for video games and movies! Today it is the all new Veronica Mars reboot!
Last year all the way back in March, the amazing Kristen Bell wanted a million dollars to reboot Veronica Mars into a movie. If you don't know what that is it's a classic teen murder mystery filled with comedy, suspense, and average teen tropes all sculpted into a 3 season show that was cancelled abruptly. Ever since then fans have been crying to get it back. Let's see if it's the thing that we and them wanted.
Totally. Mostly. At least.  Its got a 62 which is pretty fair and it's gotten 21 positive reviews and 11 mixed reviews. It's got great acting, and  doesn't have the most amazing script but it still has that Veronica Mars charm. It plays like a solid episode of the series as the A.V. Club says and it's probably a good treat for fans unless they spent  too much on that Kickstarter. Except if  they are a Veronica Mars fanatic.
Overall see this movie if you want to.
Veronica Mars is rated PG-13.

Critics Consensus:300:Rise Of An Empire

Hi! We are Critics Consensus.  We post the regular critics opinion for video games and movies! Today it is the all new sequel to 300, 300:Rise On An Empire!
300 was somewhat of a cult classic back when it released in 2006. It wasn't an insanely good movie but the special effects were ahead of it's time and the cool action scenes are to die for. Now the director of such disappointments as Man Of Steel and Sucker Punch returns in the new 300 sequel. And a little news for you. Zack Snyder can't catch a break.
300 is getting mostly negative reviews because it takes place before, during, and after 300 and makes the whole thing very confusing as stated by ReviewsOnTheRun. Unfortunately it's more of the same with cliches on top of other cliches and just feels like a very weak cash-in and could have been a made for DVD film. The film is also repetitive as stated by Film.com which gave it a 0 and the performances are very stale and dumb.
Overall it looks like this one isn't for Sparta.
300:Rise Of An Empire is rated R.

Critics Consensus:Valentines Movies

Hi! We are Critics Consensus.  We post the regular critics opinion for video games and movies! Today it is all the Valentine's movies that come out this week.
Hey! So this is kind of a last minute thing here. I realized how many Valentines Days movies come out this week so I've decided to cover them all in a quick post and say which ones are worth your time. (if any)
Date & Switch:
The first one is Date & Switch a movie about virgins trying to "score" before prom and then one of them says he's gay. Obviously this isn't your typical Valentines Day movie and this one's only a limited release so let's check if it's actually a movie you should drive a little while to see. Turns out nope. This movie has gotten some positive reviews but mostly it's gotten not so shining ones because of it's uneven pacing, dated script and subject material, and overall somewhat pointless. There is some good aspects though but it's not that spread out in the film and mostly is lacking. Overall no.
Winters Tale:
Winter's Tale is the somewhat Cinderella generic story about some crappy love that spans a century or something. It's a last ditch effort by Warner Bros to get some money this Valentines Day and after the explosion of awesomeness that was The Lego Movie we expect better from them. It's a made for TV movie scrapped together and paper thin and that explains why it's gotten no positive reviews and a 14% on Rotten Tomatoes. Ouch.
Endless Love:
The next one is some Romeo & Juliet type love story with the exact same score as Winter's Tale on Metacritic and Rotten Tomatoes. You've got to be kidding me. Im done with this film. It's obvious I don't need to explain any more.
About Last Night:
Finally how long did it take to get to a somewhat decent Valentines movie? About Last Night may turn you off because the commercials feature people having sex in a chicken costume and getting caught and it also has Kevin Hart (who starred in the not so fantastic Ride Along). Believe it or not it's actually a decent romp with funny jokes that will leave you happy this Valentines Day. Or whenever this is being published.
Overall according to critics like Globe and Mail,Entertainment Weekly,Rolling Stone, and Village Voice who have pretty good opinions the only one is About Last Night. Other are pretty crap.
Really crap.

Critics Consensus: The LEGO Movie

Hi! We are Critics Consensus.  We post the regular critics opinion for video games and movies! Today it is the all new LEGO The Movie!
Product related movies aren't really a thing anymore. The last somewhat successful (in commercial terms that is) were The Wizard and Mac and Me. Those movies came out in the retro generation of the 80's and there hasn't been one since. Thankfully Warner Bros is using their ownage of the LEGO license for video games and movies to good use. The in development hell since 2008 The Lego Movie is finally finally out, and its downright amazing.
The Lego Movie is everything a movie like this should have. A inventive imaginative script that looks like it came out of some 7 year old kids mind (in the best way possible), impeccable voice acting from Will Ferrel,Will Arnett,(That's right theres two Wills.),Morgan Freeman and Chris Pratt and spectacular animation that looks far superior to those Lego Stop-Motion animations that popped back on Youtube as early as the test of time. As the Los Angeles Times said The LEGO Movie is fresh no other movie has been in a while and especially for an animated film. This is Pixar like quality ladies and gentlemen.
Overall see this movie.
The Lego Movie is rated PG.

Critics Consensus:Grudge Match

Hi! We are Critics Consensus.  We post the regular critics opinion for video games and movies! Today it is the all new Sylvester Stallone VS. Robert De Niro comedy Grudge Match!
There's been a lot of rumours about whether there's gonna be a new Rocky movie or not. A lot of fans juts want to put the series to rest and think it will be a really REALLY bad prequel\sequel (whatever the hell it is) Warner Bros just wants to settle this in a different way in the all new Grudge Match which is a Christmas Day comedy. Let's see how it is.
Well Grudge Match is like the weakest fighter ever. It's been swung at with multiple criticisms includings ones from Detroit News,Movie Nation,USA Today and Variety who have said Grudge Match is tedious with a lousy, lazy script, clumsy jokes and a weak effort from all the actors in it. Stay away from this one.
Overall stay far away from Grudge Match. It's not a 12 dollar film much less a 3 dollar one.
Grudge Match is rated PG-13.

Critics Consensus:Her

Hi! We are Critics Consensus.  We post the regular critics opinion for video games and movies! Today the west Spike Jonze film Her!
Spike Jonze isn't one of the biggest names in the film industry and that's sad really. He's made three incredible movies which are incase you are wondering are (Being John Malkovich,Adaptation, and Where The Wild Things Are) All of those movies are cult classics and critically acclaimed and he now returns with the new Her. And it's downright amazing.
Her is about a man (Theodore Twombly) who is depressed and alone  after a long relationship with a lover. He buys a new computer system which comes with an AI that talks to him (Kind of like Siri but even more intelligent and voiced by Scarlett Jo-Hanson) and they develop a relationship. The reason Her is amazing isn't it's rather simplistic story but it's character development, chemistry, and overall heartbreak. (As praised by Wall Street Journal,Slate,Salon, com) Her will make you feel and think something a lot of movies nowaday don't do.
Overall see this movie now.
Her is rated R.

Critics Consensus:The Hobbit:Desolation Of Smaug

Hi! We are Critics Consensus.  We post the regular critics opinion for video games and movies! Today it is the all new Hobbit 2!
The Hobbit An Unexpected Journey was sadly one of the bigger disappointments of 2012 (Hey at least it wasn't Resident Evil 6) partly due to it's lousy 48 fps gimmick and a mostly boring script. Now the new Hobbits out and it's getting way better reviews and that's not partly due to there being dragons.
The Hobbit's certainly not gonna be a great as we would hope to expect but it's definitely a good popcorn muncher. It's fast paced and doesn't feel like a middle part of a trilogy as Christian Science Monitor has said. The Hobbit's getting better and better ladies and gentlemen (at least we hope).
Overall see this movie.
The Hobbit:Desolation Of Smaug is rated PG-13.

Critics Consensus:Captain Phillips

Hi! We are Critics Consensus.  We post the regular critics opinion for video games and movies! Today it is the new Tom Hanks thriller Captain Phillips!
It's funny that Warner Bros. has released all of their Oscar bait into the ocean this month which such hits as Gravity,Prisoners, and now Captain Phillips. We now Tom Hanks usually will deliver an amazing performance in a movie like this but will this actually be Oscar worthy? Let's find out.
Captain Phillips is not a solid gold perfect movie like Gravity but it is really good. It currently has an 83 on Metacritic and a 95 on Rotten Tomatoes. Tom Hanks and the actors as the pirates show their talent many times and the movie's script makes the experience  very gripping and intense much like Gravity. This is truly a must see.
Overall see this movie.
Captain Phillips is rated PG-13.

Critics Consensus:Gravity

Hi! We are Critics Consensus.  We post the regular critics opinion for video games and movies! Today it is the new critically acclaimed thriller Gravity!
Every five years there's a movie that breaks new boundaries. Whether it's the wowing special effects, the amazing edge of your seat action or something that's never been done in film before it's praised as the best thing available in theaters for a long time. Surprisingly Gravity is that and it's even better than Children Of Men.
Gravity is an emotional intense masterpiece as critics such as ReviewsOnTheRun,RogerEbert.com and Rolling Stone. It's probably the most emotionally gratifiying and suspenseful movie you might ever see in your life and its super short just savoring you on the action. Gravity brings new hope for movies in the wake of all the sequels, prequels, and reboots that have come. Gravity brings new hope to the movie industry and is spectacular in every way.
Overall see this movie now.
Gravity is rated PG-13.

Critics Consensus:Prisoners

Hi! We are Critics Consensus.  We post the regular critics opinion for video games and movies! Today it is the new drama movie with Hugh Jackman and Jake Gyllenhaal Prisoners!
During the last few weeks there has not been that much to see in theaters. There was One Direction,Riddick was a dud, and Getaway was atrocious. Let's hope Prisoners clears that September fog.
Prisoners is not a feel good September movie nor a masterpiece but it's certainly something to get you into theaters. The acting is very good with great performances from all the cast including Hugh Jackman as The New Yorker said. It's also very gripping even though the film is somewhat disturbing.
Overall see this if you want to.
Prisoners is rated R.

One Of The Worst:Getaway

Hi! We are Critics Consensus. We post the regular critics opinion for video games and movies! Today it is a new action movie starring Ethan Hawke!

In early 2013 Warner Bros bought a deal with Dark Castle Entertainment to publish their movies. The first one was Bullet In The Head and that was supposed to be Sylvester Stallone's comeback but no one saw it. He still owns debt on that movie. Now one of the last movies from Dark Castle is set to be released. Hate to break it to you Ethan Hawke but a 2% aint looking so good.
Yep. That's the score Getaway has on RottenTomatoes and I doubt it will get any better. At Friday it had a 0%. You ask why? Getaway is insanely generic and just to top that insanely fast paced FOR THE WHOLE ENTIRE MOVIE. If you do ever see this movie due to someone torturing you, bring popcorn as a life preserver.
Overall just don't.
Getaway is rated R.

Critics Consensus:The Conjuring

Hi! We are Critics Consensus. We post the regular critics opinion for video games and movies! Today it is The Conjuring a new horror movie from the creators of Paranormal Activity.
The Conjuring has been getting really good reviews and a really good audience reception. It's Warner Bros new big horror hit. But that seemed weird because it's made from the SAW creators.
Well that does not matter because the Conjuring is that good. It's scary at every turn as ReviewsOnTheRun said and amazing acting as Time Out New York stated. The Conjuring might as well be this year's Cabin In The Woods.
Overall just see it.
The Conjuring is rated R.

Critics Consensus:Pacific Rim

Hi! We are Critics Consensus. We post the regular critics opinion for video games and movies! Today it is Pacific Rim the new Godzilla-esque robot epic!
You might make a horrible mistake this weekend. But if you're reading this you probably have not made that mistake and that is to see Grown-Ups 2 instead of Pacific Rim. Now Pacific Rim is not an amazing movie but is certainly worth your money. Here's why.
Pacific Rim is a perfect movie for the summer. A Godzilla movie has not come out in a decade so Pacific Rim wants to bring a new twist to that. The problem about Pacific Rim that ReviewsOnTheRun and Slate stated is that there is no character development and it does not feel like anybody is in danger. But the movie looks beautiful and is great to watch so I guess you could forget that and see it.
Overall see this movie if you want to.
Pacific Rim is rated PG-13.

Critics Consensus:Man Of Steel

Hi! We are Critics Consensus. We post the regular critics opinion for video games and movies! Today it is the movie you have all been waiting for!

Man Of Steel is in an awkward position. It's set to be the strongest Superman movie in the franchise (no pun intended) but instead has a 56.50 average out of 100. That's a lower score than Superman Returns which was considered as a disappointment. However Man Of Steel isn't one. But why the 55?
It's because Man Of Steel packs everything into one luggage bag and it ends up exploding in the conveyor belt. Detroit News explained how the movie had a strong beginning and middle but the last forty-five minutes is mindless explosion after mindless explosion. It turns into a Transformers movie as ReviewsOnTheRun stated. It's not a bad movie. There are some really dark and tear-jerking scenes. It's just that everything falls flat at the end but with 60% of the movie being good, it's not a total disappointment.
Overall see this if you want to.
Man Of Steel is rated PG-13.

Critics Consensus:The Hangover Part III

Hi! We are Critics Consensus. We post the regular critics opinion for video games and movies! Today it is the last Hangover movie.
It's funny because The Hangover is a dead cow and they are still churning milk out of it. Except the milk's all bloody and rotten. That would explain the 21 on Rotten Tomatoes and the 31 rating on Metacritic.
Hangover III is not good. Potty, sexual and stupid humour ensues. It tries so hard as The Ooh Tray said but oh it does not have the slightest miniscule clue about what the word fail means. And that's what this movie is.
Overall don't see this movie.
The Hangover Part III is rated R.

Critics Consensus:The Great Gatsby

Hi! We are Critics Consensus. We post the regular critics opinion for video games and movies! Today it is the new movie adaptation of The Great Gatsby!

One of the most anticipated movies of 2013 was The Great Gatsby an adaptation of the classic book by F. Scott Fitzgerald. There have been many many adaptations of this book. However none of them are very good. Can Baz Lurhman change that?
Well not so much. The Great Gatsby has been a 55 average and a 47% on RottenTomatoes. ReviewsOnTheRun's Scott C Jones said that it was spectacular and written well but the last twenty minutes are weak. Most critics complained that the movie was too beautiful to focus on everything else. Source:The Atlantic,Miami Herald
Overall only see this movie if you want too.
The Great Gatsby is rated PG-13.
